VA Math, Confusing, Right? Calculate Your Final Rating Percentage!
Tbird posted a blog entry in Tbirds Blog,
10 + 50 = 50 and other VA math mysteries explained.
VA Math It’s Not Your Mother’s Arithmetic
“VA Math” is the way that the VA computes combined impairment ratings for multiple conditions in a Veteran’s compensation benefits claim – and it requires that you unlearn real math. When a Veteran has multiple medical conditions that are service-connected and the Veterans Affairs rates each at a different percentage, it would seem that they should just add up your percentages to get to a total body impairment rating.-

VA will propose adding rare cancers to the presumed service-connected list as related to military environmental exposure

Post in I need some help, please
Tbird posted an answer to a question,
If you are looking for help taking care of him something like a home health aide that comes in during the week and helps with what he needs help with. For this I would contact your local VA hospital and ask to speak to the Social Worker, explain your situation, ask for help and how to proceed.
If you are looking for additional compensation in the form of Special Monthly Compensation check out this video from CCK Law I think it will give you a good idea what it is and how to go about applying for it.
For example there is a Special Monthly Compensation Rate for TBI try reading this article from The Veterans Law Blog on SMC T It is a subscription site but it allows you to view 3 articles for free a month.
Special Monthly Compensation (SMC)
I hope this helps.

First thanks to all of you Veterans for your service. I am in Georgia visiting my uncle. He needed my help the other day in returning some forms to what he thought was the VA. I had set his first email up and that was where the forms were sent. The email was sent to him from: vetcompandpen.com. I was trying to do some research on them, but with little luck. When doing a google search I found a link to a BBB.org complaint, but when i clicked on it I rec'd a 404 error: http://www.bbb.org/north-east-florida/business-reviews/veterans-and-military-organizations/vet-comp-and-pen-in-gainesville-fl-235963268/Complaints.
I did find a company in Florida with the same name but not sure if it is the same company as it actually lists it as a veterinarians,: http://listings.findthecompany.com/l/31696997/Vet-Comp-and-Pen-in-Gainesville-FL, but they are located in same area. It does share the same address though. The company's FB page is: https://www.facebook.com/VetCompAndPen
The bottom line is I feel my Uncle may be getting scammed. They want him to send them all kinds of sensitive medical information and release all his medical records and military records too. Yet the company's profile only has 3 employees and this business is run out of a home. My Uncle is an army vet and he does receive a VA disability compensation, but it is only 25% and he wants to get this increased. i do believe he deserves an increased percentage, but I am not sure he should use this company. he actually thought these people were the VA.
Has anyone ever heard of them, used them, or know anything about them? Does my uncle really need a company like that to get his percentage increased? Can't i just him fill out all the documents etc or am I being naive and one must use a consulting company like them? I sent them an email asking what was the charge for their services, but thus far have yet to receive a response.
Anyway if you got this far, thanks for reading. i am new to forums. I hope i posted this question in the right place.
