ADD CAB to DD-214 for claim

Rate this question

Question

Is it required to add a combat action badge to my DD-214 for a disability claim? I have the CAB permanent order but it was received after MY ETS date so it is not on my current DD-214. Is this OK or will they require it for a PTSD claim? Thanks. This may not be posted in the correct spot but I will give it a try.

OIC PETE992,

I Did contact that office after about 7  or 8 months  and they said they had my correction request and copy of my DD-214..I Sent them other military records and the order of record when I extended in Vietnam After my 12 months was up  and the dates were different  so I pointed that out to the lady...its just that they have thousands of request and work them as they get  them in..its been over a year for me...maybe I'll hear something soon.

I take it that the DD-215  is a Amendment of the DD-214 ??

My original Vietnam Era DD214 showed in country service, and did not show combat awards. In order to prove combat veteran status needed for a couple of individual claims, a DD215 was necessary.

Yes my DD-214 Shows my in-country & awards, Vietnam service yes Korea No..and it as Indonesia yes  on my 214 too?  I had temporary travel orders that I had to report to my commanding officer he sign them, I had to get them every 30 days re- newed, also my MOS was change to a new duty MOS, Lucky for me I some how got home with the in-country travel orders & showed the hostile area I was at,&  NRPC in St Louis had the MOS Record  where I was changed (MOS) to New Duty MOS which was Recovery Specialist!

The Record where I extend my stay is where I caught the dates...on DD-214 It has the date arrived in Vietnam correct but the date I left was wrong, it never had my extended stay dates  and when I left Vietnam I ETS at Oakland Calif.

I never in my dreams thought I'd ever need those records, But they used them has evidence to my service from Vietnam.

I was 20 years old  and never thought about a claim back then.

Nothing about my 10 months served in Germany at Tompkins Barracks  in switzegen<ms? Germany   just out side Mannheim.

I notice they shut that post down in Germany a few years ago.

so not sure they will have a record of it  but they should, I never kept records or anything from My service in Germany I did mention it to the NRPC in St Louis when I requested my records  but I never recieved any of those records.

...I was single back then and do remember the German Women..LOL

I had a part time job just across the street from the barracks at an EM Club As a Bar Back at night.

hine sight is 20/20 Who in there right mind ever thought about medical records back then..I sure never did.
