ARB (ARMY REVIEW BOARDS) of Military Records,  Arlington Va.

I been trying to get my DD-214 corrected   and orderd my MSRs from NARPC in St Louis   they sent me a few but none of the records have what I need on them > my correct date I left Vietnam, they have on my  DD 214 I only served 12 months, and then process out at Oakland Calif

The Oakland part is correct I did ETS out of Oakland Ca  but the dates or not correct, I have the (Extension of Foreign  Service) record I sent the ARMY REVIEW BOARDS AGENCY that have the correct dates on it    the dates on it go beyond the dates on my DD-214  > they won't accept that?

I served a second tour vietnam, so the dates on my DD- 214 ARE INCORRECT/I want it corrected!

My problem is I never kept records while I was in the military  like old travel records or any records that I was deployed to and from...I just never thought I'd need them after I did my time...I don't know what happen to them?..I was young single and run around a lot drink a lot had fun lived my life to the fullest  until I got out of the service and married and settled down. (Witch I made a Promise to my G/F if I made it home all in one piece I'd marry her) I did.

Anyway

Also before Vietnam I served 11 months in Germany  and there's nothing on my DD-214  with my Germany Service (they should be  right?)

I have no records of my Germany Military Service./I left Germany and went to Nam  and finished my time from Nam. by orders of the US ARMY & DOD

I requested All my Military Service Records From St Louis Archives Record Personal Center...and the records they sent me are not good for evidence  b/c they don't reflect  the dates or places I was station at.  nothing at all on my Germany service.

I did tell them my unit and location in Germany  but they won't accept that either?  They say I need a Record of it.  I said well you guys should have Records of it  I was there 11 months...I just can't prove it.....only from my memory/Recollection

I been fighting with the Army Review Board in Arlington Va for over a year now  they denied me by three board members.

I've requested all my military records 3 times,,,they keep sending me the same damn records.

I wrote the Army Records Review Boards back  and Requested them to get my Records to review and correct my DD-214  They should be Records of All  my Military Service some damn place!

This is not for claim purposes  I just want my DD-214 CORRECT WITH MY DATES AND PLACES I SERVED.

I may have to contact my Congressman  but I should not have to do that  if the Army Records Review Boards  would get off there ass and help me with this.

btw the promise I made to my g/f and married her after I got out  worked...she has put up with me for 44 years now.

Anybody have any more Ideals of what I can do or try?

Thanks

Buck52... Have you looked at item 18 (f)  of your DD 214 to see what it indicates for "Foreign and/or Sea Service?

Is there anything in Section VII of your SR's indicating where you've been??

Do you have "DA Form 2-1"  if so, check item 5?

There should also be "Unit Diaries" or pay records you could obtain somewhere perhaps?

Good luck!!  Thomas89031

What a great story!  I never knew that.  44 years is a long time to keep a promise.  You should be on "promise keepers".   I love hearing when there is a promise kept.

As far as your DD214, I guess my intuition is not worry about it.  However, I do understand fully that some things are important to some people, not so important to others.  So, my next best thing is to contact Alex.  He was apparently shot in Vietnam, and they said he was never there.    He went to a hospital for treatment of his GSW, but there is apparently no record of that.  Anyway, ask Alex about that, He has been through that.

Thanks broncovet

Yes I checked with Alex...He mention emailing my Congressman  and I will if I don't get anything good back from ARMY REVIEW BOARD.

It not that important but I do want my DD 214 corrected with the correct Dates and places I served, They do have my medals and ribbons and vietnam service on it , but the Dates are incorrect and my Military Service From Germany is not on it.

Damn it

I forgot to file the FOIA...I already sign one on my original request  last year   and this last month  the ARBA gave me a year to Appeal.

They probably send me back a letter telling me I need to file a FOIA again.

Guess I'll send another one tomorrow or next week sometimes. eh!

I'm not sure anyone knows this  but when you contact Army Review Boards of Military Records in Arlington Va, for some of your military official records to be corrected, after a decision is final and no Appeals are requested, they send your records of Request to'' correct your Records''  Back to your RO to be placed in your C-FILE(rather or not they corrected them)

So this is another reason I want my DD-214  to be CORRECTED.

I'm not sure the ARB is suppose to request your 201 Records from NARPC (Natinol Archives Records Personal Center) from St Louis or not? but I think they did mine  b/c when I had my claim going on for PTSD ..>NARPC Sent me a letter telling me that ARB  has my Records and it will be another 4 or 5 weeks before they can recieve them back &as soon as they get them back they will send me my records I requested.  ( now that maybe BS?) idk?

    • These decisions have made a big impact on how VA disability claims are handled, giving veterans more chances to get benefits and clearing up important issues.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected.

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”
