To Flu Shot or Not to Flu Shot?

I will take the 133 deaths attributable to the flu anytime over the 98,000 deaths per year due to medical mistakes.  Refer to the articles I posted above.  Equally as important, the doctor, above, posted that there is NO evidence that flu shot prevents the flu!   I did not say  that, the doctor said it.

All this said, you can get studies that support different stuff.  But, if there are studies that show the flu shot is effective, pleease post it.

I can not see taking a shot that does not work.  You are exposed to the risks, and dangers, but the shot is not effective, according to the study.

Oh, I know.  The drug companies have campaigns going on all the time, "Get your flu shot"...even at the VA.  Of course, the drug companies advertise other stuff, too, and I dont take most of the other pills either.

My kids were vaccinated..you guessed it was mandantory.

I get my flu shot at the end of Sept  or first part Oct, this year I got it Sept 29th. its better to get them a couple months early or before it starts getting cold b/c the vaccine don't really start protecting your immune system for 7 or 8 weeks   from what been told anyway

The Army used those Jet Injection Guns on me in Boot Camp  we lined up and the medics/nurses were on both sides of us  we took our shirts off and just walk through  ZAP ...then Zap Again....some times it would bleed an on some & some guys  they would bleed real bad.

I would think the risk  factor is better taking the flu shot  if you ever get pretty sick with the flu' turns into pneumonia vs not taking it.

I suppose its a matter of choice for all of us...I been taking it for the last 15 years.

Somewhat Cavalier regarding taking the 132 Kids Deaths, as a Grand Parent/Parent, I can't believe their parents would have passed on the Flu Shot if they got a Do Over.

I agree that Medical Errors contribute to a large number of Dirt Naps. The only recourse would to never be treated by a Dr/Hospital. Very unrealistic, mature adult decisions regarding Medical Treatments have to be made, when possible.

I use the VMC for just about everything but also use non VA, Board Certified Specialists for Second Opinions and if a Surgical Procedure is necessary. It's worth the extra cost monthly to be able to use the "Pros from Dover."

Dr's and Attorneys will never give you a "Written Guarantee," for any service or Procedure. As an adult, kids don't have this option, You have to do your "due diligence."  Children have to rely on their parents, for better or worse.

Ham, have you ever read about actual Deaths attributed to the Flu Shot?

Bronc, a Squid used an Airgun on me in 68, no clue what he put in me. All I recall, every Jar-Head in line, was bleeding like a "Stuck Pig" from the injection site.

I got my flu shot yesterday and Walgreens asked me if I wanted the new Pneumonia shot.

This is in addition to the Prevar 13 show I got 3 years ago but Walgreens only keeps records for 2 years so I have to find my Walgreen's receipt-or maybe my PCP gave me the shot...need to check my med recs.

They require proof of the older Pneumonia shot to get the newest one.

I didn't want 2 shots in one day anyhow. I have to treat my decks with Thompsons Water Seal today and my arm hurts a little from the flu shot. As a Civilian I sure have learned from VA patients, to have get a copy of my med recs as they occur.
