Lymes Disease-

Rate this question

MikeHunt

Question

Well, I got diagnosed with Lyme's disease a few days after an annual training about 17 years ago. I filed for service connection in 2010 and was denied- didn't understand the process.

I just found a 6/23/00 'patient ledger' and script receipt. Ledger line: Dx: 088.81-Diseases, Lymes-

Here's the kicker: annual training ended 6/17/00.

I got a rather embarrassing chronic bowel issue after that- never had nothing before that day.

Rather odd, a buddy said i really changed after the lymes- of course, I didn't notice anything.

I think I need to have a private physician fill out a DBQ- no way the VA's examiners are going to SC me from what i've read here.

is the ledger going to 'fly' with the RO?

Are they going to demand a LOD-

How do I find a MD to write a favorable DBQ? Where would I start looking????? yikes!

I've seen 'Residuals of xxxxx Disease' - does this just mean you had it? Or does it include the bowel issues and neuro?

Or get the residuals granted then file 'secondary claims' for bowel issue and neuro?

Not going to file until I have a DBQ- i do have another single issue claim in the 'forever' stage right now.

Thanks in advance- I know my posts are 'scattered', so thanks for bearing with me. Seems the more I learn the more confusing things are!!!

you might want to check out this BVA derision on Lyme Disease,  its fairly a long read but may give you some Ideas.  this veteran was Granted  S.C. after a long fight...Not sure if he will get a rating  its back in Remand.

This is going to be a hard one unless you have a IMO/IME specialist that will cover all the residuals of Lyme Disease & its effect   there will probably be a lot of Remands to this, But its worth a shot if you have the medical records back then  that Dx in 2000 is good but since you filed in 2010   they will probably only go back to that date or when you first filed.

As I understand a Lyme Diseases condition from your military days   they rate on all the residuals and I think for each one is only 10% but it can go all the way up to a 100%rating

The best way I know to tell you how to find a LYME Disease MD   Is

just be honest and up front with them let them know your filing a claim with the VA & You need a little help, take what medical records you have that pertain to this Lyme Disease ask to be examined and checked out thoroughly  by the specialist

Use google to get the names of Dr's I would look for a specialist call them ask for a EXAM and you need HIM TO WRITE YOU AN OPINION LETTER to nexus this to your military days .

The Dr needs to use VA Lingo language...>  after examining this veteran I have read his (YOUR NAME) medical records from the VA and it is in my opinion as least likely as not Mr Veteran Lyme disease incurred or aggravated while he was in the military while doing a training exercise ordered by the military (on dates) and he has a list of residuals (name them all) the Dr needs to be fairly precise on his letter..as you can see with the BVA Decision how strick they can be.
