Mark Turnbow

Question

I was awarded notified by my VSO that I was awarded Smc-S from the Va. I did not ask for this but I am very happy. Gives me about a 400.00 a month more a month. I am TDIU P&T (70% PTSD, 40% Fibro, 30% IBS, 10% Tinnitius). This is the information I have....

You are receiving the following compensation

SMC (S-1)Effective Date : 09/20/2010

Entitled to special monthly compensation under 38 U.S.C. 1114, subsection (s) and 38 CFR 3.350(i) on account of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) rated 100 percent and additional service-connected disabilities of irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, tinnitus, independently ratable at 60 percent or more from 09/20/2010.

Rating Date : 02/23/2017

My question do I get back pay from 09/20/2010

That is correct. In 2010, SMC S was $3,143.00 /month ( with spouse only). Deduct the amount you were paid per month in 2010 December from this and add the difference X 12 months to December 2011. And so on.

$3,255 in 2011    December

$3,309 in 2012    ''            ''

$3,3358.68 in 2013  ''           ''

$3,415.78 in 2014-2015 ''                ''

$3,425.99 in 2016  ''                   '' (current rate)
