Question

So January I submitted my eviction notice, electric shut off notice, insurance cancellled notice,, EVERYTHING for an advanced Docket,, to my VSO who's office is in the BVA building Washington DC. I was told within a few weeks I'll hear something. Well 100 + days later still no ruling on it & told they have a " Huge backlog of these as well since the new year" .. wouldn't you think though that any appeal with a docket date of 2017 then shouldn't be allowed to be adjudicated until older dockets who's advancement still hasn't been heard yet?

Paul,

I agree.

I believe any or all cases should be resolved within a year, unless more evidence is added.  Why some cases can last 10 years if not longer is criminal.

My old thought has changed.  I used to say, that once your initial claim was denied and that if you then won it on appeal, etc. that there should be treble damages, three times the claim added on in damages.

Now my new thought is, one years claim comp, two years 2 x comp, three years 3 x comp, etc.  At about 10 years, it should be getting someones attention.

Maybe there should be a 3 year building, 5 year building and the covetted 10 year building where these case should be sent.  With a phone specific to that building, and a public weekly update.

I am afaid yours was just added to the pile and everytime someone checks on it or looks at it, it gets sent back to square one.  Not sure, but thats how it must seem.

My recent secondary claim went to at least three different raters in three different states.  The oposite of efficient.

Sorry, wish I could be of more help,

Hamslice

Welcome to VA's homeless program, where The VA works hard to ensure every Veteran is homeless. Hmmm..I thought the homeless program was to prevent homelessness, not to expidite it.  Oh well, Secretary Shinseki, as we all know, promised to eliminate it by year 2012, I think.  So there is no such thing as Veterans homelessness.

This is what VA means by "the Veteran shall be given expiditious treatment".  It means that the VA will make you homeless as soon as possible.

I know its not funny..and even tasteless, but I was homeless in 2005 after VA took 3 years to process my benefits. How many people can go 3 years without a paycheck and not be homeless?  I could not.  This is what the backlog means.

I would write the new vasec and explain you must have a decision in hours, not years, or you will be just another homeless vet.

BRONCO,,HAMSLICE,, true true thank you both for the comic relief.. it reminds me I'm not alone in my journey. R3D,, have u used a congressman B4? I'm a lil nervous like I'm not trying to piss anyone off at the BVA .. don't want them to just deny appeals so they can get me out of there hair..
