Retro Back Pay

To rate retro back pay does your claim have to have been in the appeal process. For example.. I just got 70% for PTSD for my current claim I submitted 5/25/17

However, I submitted a claim for PTSD in 11/15/2010 and was denied. I did not appeal that decision so that claim was closed. 

Do I rate retro back pay and if so, for which date?

I dont think it would rate back to the initial claim unless you filed an nod, or anything else required in that time frame.
