Claiming sleep apnea as a secondary to restrictive lung disease

Rate this question

Question

I have a service connected disability with zero rating for restrictive lung disease. How can I claim my recent VA diagnosis for sleep apnea as a secondary? How can I find a doctor who will write me a nexus letter? How can I request an increase for restrictive lung disease? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a copy of the VA Rating Decision regarding the  6840 SC 0%. There in will be found the Evidence Reviewed in making the Rating Decision and what would be required for an Increase.

What SC conditions constitute your 30% SC Rating?

How long after discharge did you wait to file your 1st VA Comp Claim?

I have the awards letter and I just ordered my notification letter that VA said I should have initially received. I have 10 for lower back strain, 10 for neck strain and 10 for scars. This is where  I messed up at, I have never filed a claim after I was discharged in 2005. Everything I got now is from predischarge examination. This will be my first time.

Strictly my lay opinion but your P02's on the Sleep Study look good, you didn't get DX and Rx for overnight supplemental 02 while on CPAP, correct.

After reviewing 38 CFR 4, give consideration to filing for an Increase of your 0% Lung condition based on the Newly Required CPAP. Just might get you a 60% SC when taken into consideration with LFT Results. When was your last LFT, could you post the redacted report?

Please excuse my ignorance. I am not familiar with what is a LFT or DX/RX.

Dx = Diagnosis (medical)

Rx = Prescription.  You have to have a docs prescription for a CPAP machine.

LFT = is probably a "liver Function Test".

Its possible Gastone was referring to a "sleep test" or maybe PFT

"Pulmonary Function Test".
