Use extreme caution if you used any of these "ad blockers" which were supposed to be safe as they were in google play store. They are not!!!

https://thehackernews.com/2018/04/adblocker-chrome-extention.html

One Veteran (apparently) has already had his benefits stolen!!!!  They changed his password and routed the benefits to their account! (Apparently).  Be careful with so called "ad blockers".  Only install software from a known trusted source, and google has proven they cant be trusted.

Do you mean on our own computer? or at the Bank?

are you meaning e benefits account?

I always make sure I 'm log out of e benefits and open up another site then get out of it .   it says to do that on e benefits after you log out.

I use google chrome  but it don't have any of these add blockers.

On hadit, a Veteran has alleged that a hacker changed his ebenefits password, then changed his account number on his direct deposit, and has stolen (at least one month) of benefits.

I "speculate" that a hacker has downloaded a "trojan horse" on his machine, "perhaps" the hacker gained access through a "free" software program, such as free games, or free ad blocker.  Once the trojan horse is installed, the hacker can then have "remote control" of the infected computer, and he can do anything he wants.  One piece of hacker software is called a "key logger", where the hacker knows every key you key in, including passwords.

(I studied information security in college, tho it was years ago).

My suggestion:  Dont download ANY software where you see an ad that says its free.  Instead, if you want/need software, go to a site like "majorgeeks.com" or one that YOU trust, and get your software there, ONLY after you see the honest reviews.

Since Microsoft products are the most hacked software on the planet, I use exactly "0" pieces of microsoft software.  Instead, I use Linux Mint, which is a free operating system which is more secure than windows, and does not get infected with Microsoft Viruses.  There is no such thing as "anti virus software" for Linux, because Linux is already much more secure than the very best anti virus software.

There are at least 2 types of accounts on a computer, and they are based on permissions.  An "administrative" account has full access and full control.  This is normally used for the administrator of a company who assigns limited access to those employees, as he sees fit.  Then, there is a guest type account, that does not have most/many of those priveleges and this guest can not make changes, to  say, the amount of pay he gets.  Only the bosses can do that.

In my computer, I always (automatically) log in as a "guest account".  Even I have limited control ON purpose.  EVEN If I want to do things like download stuff, I have to enter the administrative password.  This ways, my kids/grandkids can get on the computer, but they can not download anything, UNLESS I give them the password which I do not.  Each time I download stuff, I must enter the admin password.  This is one of micorosofts vulnerabilities.  IT pros have told microsoft not to make the admin account "default", because that gives full power to a computer user who has no idea what he is doing.  So, Microsoft has millions of users who have no idea what they are doing.  My 4 year old grandkids can use a mouse and play games, but they can only play the games if I approve them AT MY HOUSE.  I like that.  My computer never gets infected.  The stakes are too high.

broncovet, my son is a highly trained in IT and has been a system analyst for years , I mention this to him & if he thinks MY LAP-TOP WOULD BE INFECTED and here is what he said about this.

just so you know broncovet I've never accepted any apps on my lap-top especially if there free  like the add blockers ect,,ect,, but I would never know? if I was infected

here is what my son mention  and he's pretty good at what he does  he goes all over the country for classes and certifications of the NEW IT stuff. he has a Homeland Security Clearance,&other credentials to many to list.

''every operating system has faults and vulnerabilities.

They actually started with Linux / Unix systems  - and I have seen it.  It's called a "Root kit" that gets put into Linux systems and when that happens - you're done for good. lol

I can check it if you want. Bring it by this weekend or something and I'll go through everything that is on it and make sure you have protection against possible trojans and key loggers.''

    • These decisions have made a big impact on how VA disability claims are handled, giving veterans more chances to get benefits and clearing up important issues.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected.

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”

    • Do the sct codes help or hurt my disability rating
    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
