  • Can a 100 percent Disabled Veteran Work and Earn an Income?

    employment 2.jpeg

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Can someone clarify my VES DBQ?

Question

Hello everyone. I had a C&P exam for hypersomnia secondary to depression, and I need clarification. I will attach a redacted copy in this post.

Here are a  few questions:

  1. I read that  hypersomnia was rated under code 8108 narcolepsy, so why did they use form 21-0960P-2 Mental disorder (other than PTSD) and not form  21-0960C-6 Narcolepsy.
  2. According to 3. Occupational and social impairment  in the dbqI should be rated no less than 70% (correct me if I am wrong) for a mental disorder. I am currently rated 50% for depression.
  3. 6. Remarks (including any testing results) states that there is objective evidence to render a diagnosis of hypersomnia. I did not submit my diagnosis for hypersomnia from my private sleep test. Should I go ahead and submit the results on ebenefits?
  4. Are they going to lump this in with depression, or should I be given a separate rating?

If you asked what the weather will be next week, then I could give a better answer than trying to predict what some rating specialist I never met will "do" in any circumstance.

1.  I recall reading somewhere that narcolepsy was considered a mental disorder.  It may not matter a whole lot which form VA used.  See my first paragraph, above.

2.  I concur.  Occupational and social impairment in most areas equates to a 70  percent evaluation.

3.  If you are asking, "Should you apply for hypersomnia?", the answer is Yes.

4.  See the first paragraph.

This exam was for the claim I made for hypersomnia. I will submit my diagnosis to them.

You need a diagnosis, yes.  Sorry I missed that earlier.

F, just curious, why did you not have your Private DX of Hypersomnia medical Record Noted and scanned into your VMC Medical Record and also attached to your Claim as a PDF? You didn't request your private Clinician to copy your Med Recs to the VMC?

You knew you were filing a Secondary Claim, who handled the organization of Evidence and Claim submission?

I can not remember why. It may have been procrastination.
