Question

Hello Folks,

I have upper gi bleeding and was taken off NSAIDs while in the military due to they raised my BP and gi issues. So I’m SC for my HBP and GERD.  My question is this new va doctor game me more NSAIDs despite the gi doctor giving a letter to the pain clinic and it is in my record and flags this when I check in.  What in the world can I do to stop getting NSAIDs ? As for gi, I have gerd, barrettes esophagus, and other gi issues but the pharmacy still dispensed.

Contact the Patient Advocate at your VAMC.

If you get no help from them contact the WH Hot line 1-855-948-2311

or the VA  Inspector General -

Use their complaint form here and state you believe this is a Patient Safety Issue.

Medication errors like this can grow into far bigger problems , as I sure know well.

 I agree with Ms berta,

Also some times it helps to just go direct to the Hospital Director  and let them know what all is going on.....I had to do this when I had a Pharmacist Specialist wanted to take away some of my meds cold turkey.

With the VA Most of these medical professionals do not like to read our records and assume what is better for us.  I do not like that and it is ridiculous.

We got to stay on top of our health when even medical professionals make mistakes !
