Bringing up pain not being claimed for exam

Rate this question

Question

Good Afternoon,

I just had a quick question regarding the exam. I am being examined over a deviated septum. I am however, having knee pain which includes swelling and stiffness. I got out a year and a half ago and had occurrences of this same pain but I did not get it documented. I served in the Marine Corps infantry so it was frowned upon to go to medical. My question is can and should I bring up the knee pain and is there anyway I can receive a percentage if I don't have any evidence for the knee pain?

Thank you,

Michael

Well, no.  As always, you have to have these 3 things documented, so get your file and see if they are there:

1.  Current diagnoisis

2.  In service event or aggravation.

3.  Nexus.

It sounds like you are having trouble proving an "in service event or aggravation".   However, dig deeper.  Order a copy of your SMR's and see if there is anything there that may help.  For example, if you jumped out of airplanes, its pretty easy to figure out that could cause knee pain.
