  • Can a 100 percent Disabled Veteran Work and Earn an Income?

    employment 2.jpeg

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

What in the world? Not available, no longer needed?

Question

Hey all. I have 2 claims, a RAMP appeal and a new one for conditions the RAMP appeal evolved into. There wasn't a whole lot of movement. On my RAMP I had a C&P on 1/31 that basically proved my new claim moreso than what it was actually for, and then yesterday on my new one a "Request 3, exam request processing" popped up and then an hour later went to "Request 3 closed. No longer needed. Date: Not available"

Err.. so do I have pending appointments or did they review my other evidence? I only ask because I am supposed to be moving from PA to WV and I have been trying to hold off until exams, if needed, are done. If they don't need them anymore, I know I have extensive records provided and would be wanting to move ASAP. I didn't want to jump off of my sinking ship until they had everything they needed, if that makes sense. So what does the no longer needed thing mean? Is it as obvious as it sounds and they don't need another exam?

DAV guy 1 said I had pending exams,  DAV guy 2 said nope, you're good on exams. Errr... anyone have this happen? And if it matters, there are DBQ's on file as well.

Thanks

Dont base your decision to move on a ebenefits note!!!  Ebenefits is exceptionally unreliable.

Hang in there, for a while, at least.  You dont want to move in the Winter cold, anyway, unless you absolutely have to.

You do have the right idea, tho:  Keep VA aware of your address, and make sure you dont miss c and p exams.

I would call the 1-800-827-1000 number and see if they will shed any light on this.  Then I would contact your closest VA hospital and talk to the people setting up C&P's.

Thanks all. I will call the VA hospital and the 800 #.  It's so weird, the one guy (DAV) said the it was LHI exams or something like that, and then the other rep called back and said "nah, you're good".  It's so confusing because a lot of times it will say processing or awaiting review. I haven't actually had "no longer needed" before lol. Looks like I have some calls to make. Thanks all!

I still have 2 appeals pending..and, if/when they ever get completed, I will be able to figure out "how much money" taking the advice of a VSO cost me.  It will be in the thousands of dollars.

I would have been money ahead to hire an attorney from the get-go and pay the 20 percent.  Its much better than 0 percent.

    • Type 1 Diabetes recent onset!
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in September 2017 OUT OF NOWHERE.

i am a Navy Reservist and deployed in later 2009 to mid 2010 and again later 2014 to mid 2015; had a 2 year recall between those deployments.

Only healthcare received since commissioning in 2008 was from the Navy and no issues EVER.

insulin dependent and have dietary restrictions and in a non deployable status.

VA denied initial claim due to Type 1 not showing on active duty and now appealing.

Anyone with successful experience getting a rating with my circumstances?  I live in Upstate New York.

    • Agent Orange Kadena Afb Okinawa
I am looking for anyone who was on Kadena AFB, Okinawa or .Chanute AFB, IL. My dad was there from Oct. 68-April 70. He has ichemic heart disease, diabetes which has resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee and peripheral neuropathy. We were denied in 2002 AMVETS filed a claim on his behalf for heart condition, diabetes and back problems. I refiled in December 2011 and have just received the claim statements and medical release forms. I am familiar with filling out this paper work because my husband is a combat veteran of Iraqi Freedom. I have been reading articles from the Japan times and I am a member of the Agent Orange Okinawa facebook page. Another thing that helps make my dad's case is that he was on Chanute AFB, IL and it is on the EPA Superfund list and has PCBs/Pesticides and Dioxins/Furans listed as ground and water contaminants. I welcome any advice, tips or articles that I may have missed in my own research.

    • Appeal granted and closed.
My appeal was granted and closed on November 9.  I got an unofficial notification from the DAV on November 15 stating "appeal granted with an evaluation of 30%" which is great!  My question is this:  How long until I get the official notification from the va? Nothing on ebennies has updated since the appeal closed. Appeal is now in historical and just says complete and at originating va office. I understand no one knows va timelines to a tee but a general timeline would be great.  Thank you all! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Edit:  This was my first time appealing and it was a VBA grant.
