  • Can a 100 percent Disabled Veteran Work and Earn an Income?

    employment 2.jpeg

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

100% TDIU Not Yet Promulgated, I Need Dental Care

Recommended Posts

Thanks, Buck52, I've talked with Peggy and also just got a response from IRIS.  Both say pretty much the same thing:  "It appears a decision has been made on a portion of your appeal.  At this time, our records indicate the decision is currently being reviewed and processed at your regional office. No other action is needed from you at this time. However, if further information is needed you will receive notification by mail.  We are sorry that we are unable to give you a timeframe for this final stage in the appeals process.  We appreciate your continued patience. "

I have two minor remands that should not be holding up the granted 100% TDIU and SMC (s).

It's one of those things that might be done this evening, or next week, or next month, or next year, whenever the VA gets it done.  It's EXPEDITIOUS!  LOL  I'm waiting to hear from the VAMC Billing Office now, that's who the Dental office said to call.

It is just somewhat painful now, but I think it is going to get worse before it gets better.

UPDATE:  I called the VAMC in Shreveport, talked to someone in the dental clinic, she told me to call the business office.  I did, and the young lady there said if I would bring my BVA Decision Letter, she will try to get me approved for dental care.  It's about a 125-mile round trip, so I guess I'll invest the time and gas to see if it works.

Yikes you got approved in August and are still waiting for it to go into effect? I just got approved and thought it would go into effect next month but this thread has me wondering.

It's now 7 months, 10 days and counting.  With the VA, one never knows when some action may happen, OR NOT.  I'm still waiting.  At least it isn't a matter of IF, only of WHEN.  Maybe they're waiting until the 10-year-anniversary of my claim, which was filed in October of 2009.

But, I'm fortunate.  I have SSDI and my retirement, so my wife and I are not doing without.  One of these days the eagle's gonna shit on me in a BIG way, 10 years of the difference between 70% and SMC(s),  so I'll be okay.

Hope yours goes faster, NFLFan.  It could happen.  Don't get your hopes up too much, but don't give up hope either.  The bottom line is you got approved.  Congrats!

    • Type 1 Diabetes recent onset!
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in September 2017 OUT OF NOWHERE.

i am a Navy Reservist and deployed in later 2009 to mid 2010 and again later 2014 to mid 2015; had a 2 year recall between those deployments.

Only healthcare received since commissioning in 2008 was from the Navy and no issues EVER.

insulin dependent and have dietary restrictions and in a non deployable status.

VA denied initial claim due to Type 1 not showing on active duty and now appealing.

Anyone with successful experience getting a rating with my circumstances?  I live in Upstate New York.

    • Agent Orange Kadena Afb Okinawa
I am looking for anyone who was on Kadena AFB, Okinawa or .Chanute AFB, IL. My dad was there from Oct. 68-April 70. He has ichemic heart disease, diabetes which has resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee and peripheral neuropathy. We were denied in 2002 AMVETS filed a claim on his behalf for heart condition, diabetes and back problems. I refiled in December 2011 and have just received the claim statements and medical release forms. I am familiar with filling out this paper work because my husband is a combat veteran of Iraqi Freedom. I have been reading articles from the Japan times and I am a member of the Agent Orange Okinawa facebook page. Another thing that helps make my dad's case is that he was on Chanute AFB, IL and it is on the EPA Superfund list and has PCBs/Pesticides and Dioxins/Furans listed as ground and water contaminants. I welcome any advice, tips or articles that I may have missed in my own research.

    • Appeal granted and closed.
My appeal was granted and closed on November 9.  I got an unofficial notification from the DAV on November 15 stating "appeal granted with an evaluation of 30%" which is great!  My question is this:  How long until I get the official notification from the va? Nothing on ebennies has updated since the appeal closed. Appeal is now in historical and just says complete and at originating va office. I understand no one knows va timelines to a tee but a general timeline would be great.  Thank you all! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Edit:  This was my first time appealing and it was a VBA grant.
