AMA Supplemental Claim Underway

Rate this question

HONDOII

Question

Figured I'd just help collectively add to the data here to help everyone gain a better view into how long the process takes.

I submitted my Supplemental Claim to my VSO yesterday and received an email this morning that it was submitted to the VA and was given a VA confirmation number acknowledging it's receipt.

I submitted a supplemental claim based on two contentions (voiding dysfunction and hypertension) that I felt were inadequate.  Both received 0% ratings -- one due to omission of answers on my DBQ during my C&P exam that I saw the doctor select and save on their computer and the second was for a rating that I felt warranted the 10%.

For my new and relevant evidence, I submitted a new DBQ filled out by my doctor along with a Statement in Support of Claim for item #1.  For item #2, I submitted new medical records and another Statement in Support of Claim outlining why I should have been rated at the 10% level.

Not much info in this thread but I plan on updating it along the way for my own tracking purposes and for others.

Wish me luck!

Just an update:

Called the VA yesterday to ensure they received my Supplemental Appeal.  I knew they did through my VSO but I figured I'd grease the wheel a little bit and make the VA rep see it in the system.

It appeared on VA.gov today (July 10) with an unknown status but my two claims I'm contesting are there.  Hopefully I get some more traction soon.

My experience so far is the the status on the supplemental never changes - it has said "unknown status" the entire time even though my disability % just updated to show new approved disabilities from the supplemental as well as some denied and one deferred. I don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Yea, ever since mine has appeared on VA.gov it has said, "Status: We don't know your status.". I did call the VA yesterday and they said my appeal has been assigned to an RO with an estimated completion date of March 2020.

How long did your appeal take and was it part of the new appeal process?

Yes, the supplemental claim was part of the new AMA and the ones they just rated took ~2 months. No idea how long the deferred claim will take. They received the supplemental claim on 5.14.19 it showed up in va.gov same as yours - "Status: We don't know your status" and has never changed. It never showed up in ebenefits under "pending disabilities". Called Peggy last week who said it was pending final decision approval. Just yesterday, his % disability changed and the approved disabilities were added to ebenefits and the benefits letter shows the new higher monthly amount. It also shows those claims that were denied and 1 deferred. The claim status still currently shows "Status: We don't know your status."

Thanks for the info! Glad to know mine isn't just messed up on the website.  For the approved/denied appeals, what kind of evidence was submitted?

We re-submitted missing STRs, some records from his personal physicians, and some statements in support of claim. Then the VA sent him to QTC appointments. I don't have the letter yet, since this just updated in the system yesterday, so I don't know on what basis they approved/denied and what evidence was most helpful.

Got it. Thanks for the info! I'm surprised they provided additional QTC exams for the supplemental appeal.  Didn't think they did that until the higher level board.  If you get a chance, I'd love to know what did/didn't help the appeal once you get your letter in the mail.
