12 mile limit maps ( Vietnam)

Question

This research was done on the USS Bennington by a member of the original Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association:

It shows how the sea coordinates were developed within HR 299. And also how the Deck logs reveal the sea coordinates.

I am not sure that it is up to you to provide a visual for the VA. Seems to me,  if you provide the doc as part of your claim, it is up to the VA to confirm that your ship was within limits. They have an obligation to help the veteran; you are not supposed to be educated in how to plot a ships course. IMO. I, too would be interested to hear from Navy Vietnam veterans who did this as part of their claim process. By the way, was your ship listed as previously i.d. by VA to be within the limits on the VA site?

GBArmy is right- if yiur deck logs fit you into the coordinates I posted here under the HR 299 topic,

and you have an AO presumptive disability, there should be no need for you to explain to the VA how you were exposed.......however on the AO July VA ships list, there are some specific dates, meaning the date the ship ws exposed- so I assume it would only cover sailors who were onboard- after that date, within the 12 mile limit.

Have your searched the most recent AO ships list from the VA?

I have been searching the list lately for some Blue Water Vets, and their survivors , at the American Legion site

and unfortunately the list is not alphabetic, and takes time to search but sometimes a sailor might have been on one of the AO VA exposed ships, and thought they were exposed on a ship that is not on the list.

what ship were you on and when?
