Thyroid cancer would fall under the "endocrine system" for disability codes: https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/38/4.119   More than likely under DC 7903.

Do you have evidence that your thyroid carcinoma is service connected.   In other words do you have a doctors opinion that your thyroid carcinoma is "at least as likely as not" related to your military service?

I am currently still on Active Duty but retiring in a few months and this all happened last year so i would assume it will be seen as service related.  The type of cancer is most caused by radiation as i was told by doctors.  The cancer has been removed and has not came back was just not sure because it is gone is it still considered something to claim?

If you look up the diagnostic codes Shrek gave you the site for, and you have some of the symptoms for the different ratings, then you have an idea what you may be entitled to. That said, do you have anything in your service records that diagnoses a thyroid condition? If not exact, does it progresses to thyroid cancer, etc. (or one of the conditions called out under the diagnostic code? ) If not, you are in need of a nexus that connects the illness you have with the service. That would be a IMO (Independent medical opinion). You must have a connection, a in-service condition and a dignosis now.

Because it happened in service it is automatically service connected.  Here's the thing, the reason for VA disability pay is to compensate the Veteran a certain percentage based upon his/her ability to function at a certain level.  In what way did the your thyroidectomy prevent you from functioning at 100%?  Do you have a disability that is secondary to your thryoidectomy?

I would suggest that you go here:    https://www.index.va.gov/search/va/bva.jsp  and enter "thyroidectomy" in the "find these words" box.  Read the results, you will learn a lot.
