Shoulder probably torn

Rate this topic

Hey everyone, 😀

Kind of stuck right now with the VA, so thought I'd post.  Fell on shoulder and went to ER.  Discharged with no sling, no instructions.  Could barely move arm.

So besides not getting a proper exam and being released too early, never did they properly deal with my pain.  But I've been calling them (patient advocate, etc) trying to get an appointment and I finally got an ultrasound scheduled for 10 days from now.  Any ideas on how to see a doctor, quickly without going to the ER? Thanks!

PS: I got a sling from a local civilian hospital on the 13th, but they couldn't prescribe or offer imaging.

Go to patient affairs or the social worker and explain why you want another doctor without going into too much detail.  That might get you changed sooner.

Thanks, I'll try those offices - I'll drive to the hospital tomorrow.  They may call today.  Yeah, and they won't let me see the 'new' doctor unless I do the 'secret handshake' and 'password' routine with him first.  What a spool of red tape! Whatever keeps the numbers up, I guess.....

This is just one small piece of advise. When you talk to those offices, bring up the fact that you are 70% disabled already. That is priority group 1; it's a long shot but maybe when doing their magic, they overlooked that fact. You should be getting priority on scheduling for anything except people dying.JMO
