Friend Lost his 50% PTSD Rating - Be Careful

Question

Hello: My friend lost his 50% PTSD rating. He has taken the steps

necessary to retrieve it back. He just completed another C&P

with a VA affiliated physician. He believes that he can possibly

receive 70%. Any thoughts. He was devastated upon losing

losing the 50% but he did not show up when asked to for a

followup C&P. It's a tough process to gain back what you lost.

Thanks for any input.

What input would you like? You've given no details. VA, while sometimes an intolerable pain in the ass, doesn't just remove a rating for no reason and not without at least a few letters of warning about reduction, and how to appeal.

He apparently didn't show up for a schedule cp exam, that will do it and if that along with not seeing anyone for care within the VA.......the veteran is double screwed.  So many veterans think they get rated and can just waltz through life thinking they will retain that rating, with things that are exactly permanent in nature like PTSD you are guaranteed you will be called in for exams.

And yes, the VA sends you a letter, at LEAST one with a proposal to reduce and what your options are.  Not only did the veteran not attend the exam he was scheduled for he/she then ignored the proposal for reduction letter thinking it would go away?  Yes, it is good that he/she has filed for another exam but a lot of stress and aggravation could have been thwarted by following directions and procedures put in place to protect veterans and the VA.  We are best served to use them to our advantage and seek counsel when we don't know what to do.  Wishing him or her the best.

I know another PTSD Veteran that did the same thing  ignore his C&P or simply forgot and he was sent a proposal to reduce   he was in VA MH therapy at the time so he showed his therapist this letter  the therapist type up a letter for this veteran  and the proposal was canceled out   reasons was he had mental problems and memory problems they were addressing them at this time.

The VA may seem like a pain in the ass but they do give you a chance if they propose a reduction. The one thing I have learned on the this site is you never miss an exam and you never ignore letters from the VA. I wish the person good luck with their PTSD claim.

Yeah they give the veteran a chance  30 days from the time they get the proposal from the time they send the letter out.or from the date on the proposal letter.
