Question

Hello: My friend lost his 50% PTSD rating. He has taken the steps

necessary to retrieve it back. He just completed another C&P

with a VA affiliated physician. He believes that he can possibly

receive 70%. Any thoughts. He was devastated upon losing

losing the 50% but he did not show up when asked to for a

followup C&P. It's a tough process to gain back what you lost.

Thanks for any input.

your not clear on this did he get his 50%back?

or does he need help getting it back? meaning they did reduce him from the 50% to? what ever.

if he thinks he has got worse with his PTSD it is certainly possible for an increase   he will need a Dr to state the have examin him and read his medical records  to give his professional opinion it is likely as not his PTSD AND THE SYSTOMPS HE SHOWS ARE WORSE OR HAVE WORSEN. or something close to this.

Usually in a Proposal to Reduce as long as the Veteran has not been reduced he can request a DRO Hearing or review and submit new  medical evidence is condition has worsen.

a veteran keeps his original payment until the VA proves  medically his PTSD as got better or shown improvement,   the letter to reduce is a scare tactic basically  and they get that information from a Dr it has improved ,just like we have to prove it has worsen.  if that ever happens  then a Specialist Opinion will Win Out over an M.D. VA OR Private.

Your friend needs help. If he can't keep an appointment or ask for help maybe he needs an advocate. When someone has a severe mental illness it's almost impossible to do everything alone. VA recognizes caretakers and advocates almost more than VET themselves. These soldiers are taught to move on and ignore trauma since beginning of their service. Always always have a caretaker or advocate.
