No Diagnosis But Submitted Claim

Question

Sorry to bother everyone, but I have a few questions about the claims process.

Has anyone ever been approved for PTSD or another mental health disorder without first getting a diagnosis?

I recently filed for PTSD and anxiety and had a C&P exam. The C&P examiner said I had symptoms of PTSD. Does her filling out the DBQ suffice for a diagnosis?

Or am I probably going to get denied?

If I get denied, should I go to the VA and then get an official diagnosis?

Apologies if these are rookie questions.

Thank you for the help.

So Broncovet is right on!  And how would you not have stressors from driving around Iraq???  For me every time I see a trash back or a pile of trash or something out of the ordinary on the side of the road I am thinking is that a roadside bomb?  Is someone holding a trigger waiting for me to get close enough?

Am I going to get boxed in today and an RPG fired at my head?  Trust me there were tons of stressors out there, and we try to block them out, we typically become hyper aware of things and the normal person does not get their mind set on things like this.  This is why therapy is good to find out what stressors you have and how to deal with them.

I THINK A  C&P examiner can make a PTSD Diagnose at the veterans time of his exam,if the Dr is qualified to make the diagnose  then VA will accept it....

The VA hires these Dr's to do these PTSD Exams  but the Dr needs to be qualified to do the exams and make diagnoses.

I was diagnose for Combat PTSD by the VA mental health clinic Diamond Team  a MD and a physiatrist diagnose me &  at the entry of my C&P EXAM part of the exam questions ask this

Does the Veteran have a PTSD DIAGNOSIS? the Examiner  checked yes in the box.

if you have the evidence presented at your C&P  OR ITS IN THE COMPUTER for the examiner to read you should have no problems getting it service connected ,  now with  the ratings you get they go by the symptoms  and the severity of them.  from 0% 10% 30%50%70%100%

This is good advice, My new claim of ptsd got deferred and i have another one of many i have already had CnP exam outsourced. I have been diagnosed years ago and taking medz, however VA asks for a lot more and even if you provide a couple records that show trauma they will still say then need something else.. i feel ya, im going through this to...

And to make it more difficult .. my rep keeps saying " your maxed out" withdrawal your claim".. .aye yaye yaye..

Thanks, Buck52. I hope so. Can't imaging paying out of pocket for care for some of the other issues (non-PTSD) I have. Thank you.
