I feel you will  need buddy statements from anyone in your unit who also was part of this training exercise.

Do you have any other stressors that might be easier to prove?

It is not that they are doubting the incident, it is that this was considered part of training and was not a "crash," as I understand the remand.

Was anyone injured?

I don't buy what the VA is selling here.

I do not believe, the military, had the funds to ditch helicopters in the drink, for training reasons.  The jet engines would be junk from the water while hot.

Unless, someone can say differently, I don't believe that.

Especially when I at numerous times picked 2 cent brass up at every range fire I every attended.

I had to look it up.  The base cost of a 1972 UH-1 for the military was $299,000.00.  Definitely too much for a training aid.  Just sayin..

Former helicopter mech here. I concur that they don't just ditch WORKING helicopters for training.

Engines, instruments, and electricals would be shot after a drink.
