Question

I put in a claim for insomnia secondary to tinnitus. I had a C&P and a week later it was denied.

I put in a HLR for it. When i checked the status on va.gov it was listed  as Generalized Anxiety Disorder.  Any reason why they would list it as that?

dapolgrim The VA often changes the claim to make your symptoms more closely fit with an already established diagnostic code. In this case they are attempting to link your insomnia to a mental health condition, because you are exhibiting symptoms that can be rated more easily. It isn't necessarily a bad thing if the results get you a disability for your symptoms .

In your case, tinnitus is a more common direct cause of MH conditions, so IMHO I think it is good for your claim results.

It appears that VA changed your secondary insomnia claim to a Generalized Anxiety Disorder claim, not showing if that GAD will be primary or secondary. This is something you already knew by your OP
