Question

Hello,

I apologize if this is a repeat topic, but I am not sure of the correct terminology of what I am looking for. I had seen posts in the past where Veterans submitted their medical records to a medical center and then doctors wrote a letter to support specific claims. Does anyone know what this is called? Or, better yet, does anyone have any specific recommendations? I know they are not cheap, but I will figure out how to make it work.

To answer your question what you are talking about is an IMO(Independent Medical Opinion) and or an IME( Independent Medical Examination). The IMO is where a doctor reviews your current and past medical records and write his/her opinion of your current medical status. An IME is where a doctor not only reviews your records, he/she will also give you an examination then write an opinion of your current status. You can use these but at this time what will help most is a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist opinion of your current condition and if you can do any type of work period.  With SSA it is all or nothing, can you work or not.  At this particular time, the best thing is to seek a good attorney.  Your post shows you are already 100% VA and you are only seeking SSA benefits, attorneys work with doctors and VRS (Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist) that will write the opinions that you need without you doing any other search. The attorneys will do all the work for you.  Keep in mind that it could take up to twenty four months or so in order for your SSA claim to get to a law judge for them to review you claim and make a decision and it is no guarantee that it will be that fast.  It could be sooner but don't quote me, it will take a while.

Yes, there is it's own section, if you go back to the forums page and scroll down you will see "IMO Independent Medical Opinions."

Go there make a new post what you're seeking in terms of body part.

You're already at 100% and ??
