Resume in person exams

Rate this question

SPO

Question

I spoke to a VA rep at the 800 number yesterday.  They said as of yesterday the VA contractors are beginning to resume in person exams.  However, it is dependent on your location and the particular contractor/doctor if they chose to do them.  Just thought I'd share.

Out of curiosity what general area do you guys live.  I don’t think my area is open yet.  But 15 miles down the road is supposed to be.

Just got scheduled for my exam.  They tried to give me the same NP as last time that did a half ass job.  Asked for someone else.  Turns out they scheduled me with another NP in the same practice.  I'm going to have to get that changed,  no way she will disagree with someone in the same practice.

Well, still can't get an exam scheduled with LHI.  I've been calling every week for the past month and still no luck.  They keep saying that they are still trying to locate a provider in my area who can conduct the exam.  So basically my area is open to conducting exams but they have no examiners to do it.  I questioned the person on the phone today a bit more and she doesn't understand either why veterans are being told scheduling is in process but then they have to tell them they are searching for someone to conduct the exams.  It makes no sense so I call the VA 800 number to see if I can get the exam moved from LHI.  I was told that if LHI couldn't get it completed they would send it back to the RO and it would be sent out for another company to have it done.  I asked that a message be sent to the RO notifying them that LHI is not able to complete my exam.  Also, I used to work at an RO processing claims but I last worked there in April 2015.  They still have my claim marked as sensitive 7 even though I haven't worked there in over 5 years.  Sensitive 7 means the veteran is an employee and only certain employees have access to those claims.  I asked that the sensitive 7 flag be removed from my claims file since I no longer work there.  Since only certain VA employees have sensitive 7 access, this could be slowing down my claim.  It also can create a bias since the people working the claims would know that I was an employee and I know the how the VA works.
