Slick If he is a Vietnam veteran, his best bet is to get a kidney specialist to link his current symptoms for renal or voiding dysfunction to A.O.  Here is the rating criteria  http://www.militarydisabilitymadeeasy.com/originalvasrd2.html  A.O. is responsible for a lot of cancers, but many are not connected oresumptive. He is going to need a strong IMO from a doc who can get the justification thru medical documents/studies.

Also, if a doctor has determined that this vet  has hypertension and that is what caused the kidney disease,

then I suggest he read my info here:

https://community.hadit.com/topic/78914-more-ao-hypertenion-awards/

And there is also one or maybe more other articles on this in our AO forum.

If he was incountry Vietnam during the Vietnam war, the NAO ( IOM) report of 2016 has determined there is a "sufficient"

association of AO exposure to HTN.

I wrote to Sec. Wilkie to make a strong case for HTN to become a new AO  presumptive and I think my own claim is mentioned in this link above or the other threads on AO HBP.

I filed my claim as accrued because my husband is dead ( 1151 death) and his HTN was deemed as "essential "by VA, meaning they did not know what caused it, and it was a contributing factor to his death.

I stated in my claim that now VA has a medical cause for his hypertension, due to his AO exposure in Vietnam.

I sent them the specific parts of the NAP report which is linked to here in the AO forum as well .
