TCE and Parkinson disease

In September 2014 I found out I was eligable for benefits ( knee related at 10% ) I also  found out I should submit another claim because of parkinson disease.  The claim was filed and was immediately denied because I was not "boots on ground" Vietnam.  I did some research and appealed the decision.

I then hired an attorney and submitted a ton of inormation to the firm.  Things like MOS, TCE labels, test studies, doctors statements, pictures of myself and others at cleaning stations, aircraft, etc.  I also presented EPA statements and EPA test of the last 2 bases that I was at that have been closed because of contaminates.  Also presented was flight hours logged while at these bases and of the condition of the last base and its remote location.  In general just a lot of information.

After 5 years of  work and presentations I was awarded 100% for Parkinson Disease due to TCE exposure.

Bottom line is NEVER QUIT if you believe you are right and deserve what is due you.  Because of my award I am a 77 year old that can live the rest of my life comfortably. Not worried about anything.  Parkinson has slowed me down but it has not stopped me and my doctors say it will NOT get any worse than what it is.  I encourage ALL my veteran brothers and sisters with PARKINSON to not give up or give in.

cecil Great story about sticking to it. If first denied (isn't just about everyone?), appeal again. Thank you for sharing. These stories encourage others to keep going!

Can you tell us where you served ,what your MOS was, and if the Parkinson's was due to AO exposure, or specifically claimed for TCE exposure?

Was this a BVA award?

You are RIGHT!!!!!!! We must Never give up!!!!!!!!!
