    Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery” instead of ‘I have a question.
       
    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
      I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
       
    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.
       
      Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
     
    Leading too:

    Examples:
     
    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
    Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
     
    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
    Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
     
    This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

Back pay wrong

So I found out that I was increased from 80% to 90%,  (aside from the fact that this should have been 100%), I have issues with the amount of back pay.  They gave me my effective date all the way back to 11/2018, but miscalculated.  From 11/2018 until 03/2020 I was 70%, from 3/2020 until now I was 80%.  They are saying the owe 1/2 the back pay they should.  My rough estimate says they used 80% for the calculation all the way back.  How can I have them fix this?

You can ask VA to audit your most recent claim or you can ask VA for a partial copy of your c-file. A lot of veterans have copies of their C-files but what some veterans don't get is that the C-file is a living creature. It constantly grows by absorbing medical documents and filing claims request. If a veteran filed  and received a copy of his/her C-file around 2010 and continued to file claims and now that it is 2020, there would be more documents in the claims folder from 2010 to 2020 that the veteran could request.

Have you received the written VARO decision?  If you have, and the money you received was inconsistent with the decision, as pacman suggested, request an audit of payments.  Dont do anything, yet, until/ unless you have received the VARO written decision.  

However, if you received the written decision and the decision made an error on the effective date(s), you can try a cue, or, probably just file a nod and appeal the effective date.
