dtoney2000 Sorry, but you have to provide a bit more info so we can help. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Do you already have a disability rating from the VA? Did you recently file a disability claim and haven't gotten a decision yet? Was it denied? If so, redact your name and other personal info in response and post it on this thread.

Not many of us old dogs (Vietnam Vets) still around,

There is GB Army and Myself and Alex aka ( Asknod) and a few others that don't post much here on hadit...but you be supprised how many of us are still around and kicking.

There were a good many of us on here at one time  but I guess their dying off.

20 hours ago, dtoney2000 said:

how do you even get a hearing  we ask and ask nothing we try to get a so called VSO and are told you have to get a rating first  then they appeal  they know the vietnam vets are dieing so they wait us out with BS

I think you mean get a denial on your rating and then Appeal, you can Appeal different ways  you can Send in a NOD ( Notice of Disagreement ) after your denied for first time claim or for an incr4ease, you can ask for 3 different ways to hopefully get approved, you can request the Supplemental lane and get more evidence to back up your claim, or you can request a H L R (Higher level Review)  this is to let a Senior DRO (Decision Review Officer) normally at your R.O. to review the claim that was denied  (but remember you can't add new evidence in this lane and hopefully he finds a mistake in your favor to Approve your Claim ,if denied from there  you can request a BVA Review hearing of your claim.   if denied then get you an Attorney and go to the CAVC

*JMO) and (other opinions will vary)

As GB Army mention need more information?

and I am not so sure I understand what you mean dtoney2000?

Buck 51 said "Not many of us old dogs (Vietnam Vets) still around"...

I saw this recently from the last census - 523 Vietnam Veterans die every day. Of 3.4 mm that served, only 300K left. And my friend, this is OLD data.

Phased Reopening of National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NPRC was closed from March 23 through June 23, 2020.  While it was closed, a limited number of essential staff continued to report on-site each day to service urgent requests, such as those involving homeless veterans in need of shelter, medical emergencies, and funerals for deceased veterans.
On June 24th, the NPRC entered into Phase One of a gradual reopening.  To ensure the safety of its workforce, social distancing measures have been instituted which limit its operating capacity to only ten percent of its normal staffing level.  Despite the low staffing levels, its operations have been disrupted on multiple occasions due to exposures of staff.  As the pandemic continues to spread in the local community, additional disruptions are expected.
In Phase One, the NPRC is continuing to service the emergency requests described above, and will soon expand its service to include time-sensitive requests from veterans for records needed to secure VA home loan guarantees and employment opportunities.  The NPRC  will also resume servicing routine requests from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the temporary loan of original records needed by the VA to adjudicate veterans’ benefit claims.  These expanded services are planned to begin on August 3, 2020.

    • Post in New BVA Grants
While the BVA has some discretion here, often they "chop up claims".  For example, BVA will order SERVICE CONNECTION, and leave it up to the VARO the disability percent and effective date.

I hate that its that way.  The board should "render a decision", to include service connection, disability percentage AND effective date, so we dont have to appeal "each" of those issues over then next 15 years on a hamster wheel.
    • Finally heard back that I received my 100% Overall rating and a 100% PTSD rating Following my long appeal process!

My question is this, given the fact that my appeal was on the advanced docket and is an “Expedited” appeal, what happens now and how long(ish) is the process from here on out with retro and so forth? I’ve read a million things but nothing with an expedited appeal status.

Anyone deal with this situation before? My jump is from 50 to 100 over the course of 2 years if that helps some. I only am asking because as happy as I am, I would be much happier to pay some of these bills off!

    • I told reviewer that I had a bad C&P, and that all I wanted was a fair shake, and she even said, that was what she was all ready viewed for herself. The first C&P don't even  reflect my Treatment in the VA PTSD clinic. In my new C&P I was only asked about symptoms, seeing shit, rituals, nightmares, paying bills and about childhood, but didn't ask about details of it. Just about twenty question, and  nothing about stressor,
    • This is the latest Compensation & Pension (C&P) Clinicians Guide dated 20180719. The only other one I've seen is dated 2002, including the one on this website and the VA website. I got this from my claims agent, who got it from the VA.

    • I don’t say thank you enough to all of you...
You, yes you, are the reason HadIt.com has remained a resource-rich resource. Thousands come each month to read, ask questions, or to feel a sense of community.

Last month June 2020, we over 50k visitors they viewed over 160k pages. Veterans and their advocates, spouses, children, and friends of veterans come looking for answers. Because we have posts dating back 15 years and articles on the home page, they usually can find an answer or at least get pointed in the right direction.

You all made that possible. Thank you.
