Why might a veteran never have gotten the decision letter on a reversal on a claim that had been denied on service connection on PTSD?

Albsalin73 The most likely answer is that the VA is a humungus large organization and someone dropped the ball. Did you by chance move and your address on record didn't get updated. Know that the VHA and VBA are not connected in many ways, so if you notify of a move to the health side, the benefits side don't get the info. Big thing is do you finally get the letter and what action can you take on it?

Of course, its also possible you did not change your address, or did not change it both with VBA and VHA.  Lastly, the post office is not that efficent any more, and lots of mail gets lost.  Finally, mail can be/is stolen. 

Its even possible you got it, and thought it was spam.

Anything is possible. Maybe the VARO said they mailed it and they did not.  Maybe the postman delivered it to the wrong address. Once a decision is made a veteran can contact the VA and have them to fax or email the veteran a copy after the ten (10) day mailing time.

I am currently in a remand status and the VARO sent out my SSOC the end of September and gave me a 30-day notice to respond.  In filling out my response, I contacted VA and was told to wait because VA had made a new decision the first week of October. I waited and waited until finally I called and said I needed to respond to the SSOC, and I had not received my new decision. Peggy then emailed me a copy of the decision and I faxed in my response to my SSOC with a few days to spare.  Never miss a suspense date or response time because that could kill your claim and effective date.

I contacted the RO and they told me they knew nothing about the claim.  I sent them a letter with copies of the notification I received on VA.gov.

Ten days later I called again to ask if they received the letter.  They said they hadn't.  The post office never returned that letter to me.  Did the same thing by sending that letter to Janesville.  They answered that they had received my claim for the "Freedom of information".  I hadn't even filed such claim.   All I wanted was a clarification of what was going on and wanted to know the content of the decision letter.  Have not received anything in regards to closing of the appeal having been granted service connection for PTSD on a claim since February of 2013.

I never received one piece of paper from my 2012 first time claim, in the C-file last year it had a massive amount of copies of letters that never arrived. The address was correct but 2012-2014 was not good for the VA.

The sad thing is I have not moved in well over fifteen years( always dreaming about that forever home) and I have always gotten my letters from the VA with no problems. I do not know what happened to that decision letter the first week of October but I have recently received several letter that makes absolutely no sense from VA since I called and said I was missing my decision letter.  So, if VA mailed out the decision letter the first week of October and it was lost. How could I be getting development letters for the reopening of and old claim?  I wish I could point to the real reason that I never got my decision letter but it is beyond me, I am just grateful I had the sense to call VA and say hey, I am missing my decision letter and I need to respond to my SSOC within a week.  Well it got done and now the long wait for my new BVA decisions. Finger, eyes, arms, hands, legs and feet crossed.  No, not really just joking.
