Question

Recently diagnosed by VA Psychologist with Major Depressive Episode with service connection to Tennitus.  Eval by private Psychologist wrote nexus confirming diagnosis and service connection.  What else if anything do I need to proceed with secondary claim and receive approval?

Read your original denial. New evidence of current problems won't do as much good if your  original denial was based on no in service event, for example. Your new and relevant evidence needs to refute whatever the denial was for.

Okay, sorry about that. Cool. In that case, are you claiming direct service connection or secondary to something else? Make sure your nexus/opinion letter addresses whichever way you are taking it.

With secondaries you need 2 things.  (You dont need an in service event for secondaries, they are presumed because of the primary SC):

1.  Service connection.

2.  Nexus, or link between your secondary condition and the one that is already SC.
