Looking for support groups outside the VA

Andyman73

Question

Hey all,

I’m looking for contact info for a women’s support group for ptsd. I believe they may be based in Oregon. One of their members reached out to me, a few years back, when I was dealing with my MST claim, to offer some support, as a fellow MST survivor. I am trying to help a Veteran who seriously needs a women’s combat ptsd support group. She has been given a lot of horrible mistreatment from the VA, mostly because she won’t “shut up and do what they say”. She told me that the chief of the VAMC MH department called the Vet Center she was using, and told them to no longer treat her or return her calls. She’s afraid to go public with this, for fear of retribution.

Im asking here, because I think it was here, in Hadit, that the woman who reached out in support. I just don’t remember. If you are still here, or if any of you know of a women’s only group that sounds like the one I’m thinking of, please let me know. I’d really like to be able to connect that Veteran with that group.

Thanks for your time.
Semper Fi.

This chief of VAMC MH department needs to be reported.  They should "never" refuse Vets treatment or return their calls.  Did this CHIEF say "why"?

You should not be in fear of retaliation.  This person got a 90 million dollar settlement:

I think you should "blow the whistle" on this chief, tho go here first, get advice and be prepared:

Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title. I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – Make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    exclamation-mark-orange-gold.jpg How To Post

    Post a clear title like

Need help preparing PTSD claim or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery” instead of  ‘I have a question."

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading
