My Friend has been as to travel 90 miles for his comp exams.

Rate this question

Mr cue

Question

So my friend calls me this morning tell me that lhi ask him to travel a 90 mile away.

This is crazy an ppl feel like this is ok.

If a veteran is disabled I don't many who can travel that far alone.

The va hospital is 10-15 mins away we're he and I have always had are comp exams.

I don't want to hear the hospital can no longer do them. Because they can.

This has to stop.

He told them he not able to travel that far they tell him it might be 2 3 weeks before they can get something closer.

Once I complete this fight.

I have a new mission

Suffice it to say that not ever veteran is close to a VA hospital, not every VA clinic or hospital has every kind of doctor to do C&P exams

The ? Was not about a veteran that doesn't live near a va hospital.

It was about the va not scheduling the exam at a va hospital that is 15 min away from him

An a private company asking a disabled veteran to travel an HR and half drive to get a appointment.

An let me state this again I have been on hadit since it started.

And I was here debating law with Carlie Berta. And more.

And venting lol

My name than was yulooking if u choose to look it up.

Plz stop with what the va can and can't do.

The reason the comp exam system was change was because veterans had to travel.

the one who were not near va hospital.

They did not stop doing exams at hospital an they did not get rid of the comp and pension department in the hospital

We're all the exam were done before this.

Call the va hospital and ask for the comp and pension department.

I respect your opinion

But I have mine to.

So I think you should say the veteran affairs is choosing to send all veterans to the private contractor.

I didnt say they got rid of it, now you are putting words in my mouth. Read what I wrote again. You can’t make up your own facts just because you don’t like them the way they are now.

Stop telling people what you *think* VA can and cannot do. Because, in this case, you are incorrect.

See this is were I be have a problem with u stop try to tell me what I can an can't post.

We all are posting what we think and feel the va should do.

In are cases..

Last we had this same issue before.

When u told me what do I expect you and the va to do.

You are not at the top of the food chain at the va.

You don't handle law and are trained on what the va want you to do.

If they tell you not to order exams form va you follow along.

If they tell u we process it this way that the what you do it.

"in my town", the DAV will pick up and transport Veterans, even if its 100 miles.  You see the Vans all over the hospital parking lots.

Have you ever seen one of these van pick up a veteran for a private appointment at a private hospital or clinic or hotel room.

We're ever they choose to send veterans for a private company comp exams.

I had to drive 123 miles, but I could drive. I'm not sure if the DAV offers transport for long distances to  C&P exams. I have heard that they will drive a vet to a VAMC if he has an appointment there and he's a patient at a VA outpatient clinic (a CBOC).  That can be quite a distance, so maybe they will drive for C&P exams. DAV transport relies on availability of vans and drivers, too.

My VAMC did comp and pen exams. I am unsure of whether or not they refused certain kinds of exams, but I could not do mine at my VAMC because I also worked at my VAMC (conflict of interest) and so I had to drive 123 miles to an out-of-state C&P exam and 65 miles for another out-of-state and 87 miles for an in-state.  I could drive though. Fortunately, I had just gotten a brand new economy car, because if I had to rely on my old '98 Buick I would be biting nails. It all worked out for me, and I just treated it like a mini vacation that I needed badly anyway.

Have your friend check out the DAV.

Even though the VAMC is a few blocks away, there may not be a specialist that could perform the exam

If I had the choice I would want the VAMC to do it. I understand that the VAMC comp and pen exams can be seen in Blue Button.  That would sure beat having to request a copy of the C&P exam.  I know that when I worked at my VAMC that our patient load got crazy after the Obama Care mandate. Vets piled into my VAMC to avoid having to pay the end of year penalty for lack of coverage. Our VAMC looked like a mall 2 days before Christmas. And forget the grass, we had vets parking everywhere.
