    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Ancronyms List

Capt.

Question

This is so confusing though I guess everyone knows what these ancronyms are after a while. I am new to this site and new claim from old army service. I would like to say that there is so much valuable info from the experienced warriors who have fought the VA for so many yrs here. Thank you all.Is there a list of the ancronyms for all of the VA terms and those used here. I am confused on some while others I do know of. I am discouraged about all of the time and minefields the VA puts up. Hopefully I can get somewhere with all of my documents and IMO's and some that the VA docs have even tried to help. Once again thank you so much. There are some very hardworking VETS here and know so much. Thank you again for your help.

Hello Tdak, Thank you for the link on the acronyms. Sorry for the mispelling. The list I was really wanting was one of the terms used here on Hadit.com. I do know some of the terms but not all and the list in the link doesn't have all of them . Can someone maybe post the "Hadit.com Acronym list"? Thank you for your help. CC

For the benefit of newbies I will try to use the full description plus the initials for awhile. We used to have a list on home page but I am not sure anymore.

Tbird ,,,,thank you so much ....at least now I can look at the list and kind of know what is going on. I also did what the doctor said and filed for chronic diarrhea , hypertension, back , depression from pain. They took me off the neurontin (gabepentin) because of loosing my memory and lack of being able to concentrate. My VA blood pressure meds and Hydrocodone came yesterday but I am reluctant to take the pain meds but don't know what to do either. I still have the claim for the peripheral neuropathy with IMO nexis least as likely as not and 2 VA doctors writing that they reviewed the documents and one said most likely cause the other said that he reviewed the documents and the other listed the chemicals , radiation, dioxins and ddt, heavy metals, xylene, dro, sarin, and other multiple toxins. I also have another doctor reviewing my med records and documents. He will be hopefully evaluating me and giving me yet another nexus. I wish I would have know about this 4-5 yrs ago but just started the initial and now comes the battle. I really do not know how most of you have fought with this system for so long. I have no other choice but to try and hang in there. Thank you again for all of the knowledge and support....it has really been the only blessing I have found for support. CC.

Thank you Tbird again for the posting of the Acronyms and Stretch for the hang in there. Topo , I agree that this sight has some wonderful people that are alot smarter than me,and certainly helpful to all vets. Thanks for so much support. I was talking to another vet last night who just joined this sight and he has his on stories of the VA. Maybe he will post some of them later to help with others jumping thru the VA hoops. This is going to be a battle, no doubt about it. CC
