    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

It is tempting for me to try and get the HB, but it means having to try and go from IU to 100% schedular. I probably should have been 100% but I hate and detest having to go for a psychiatric C&P. At my VARO I would probably have to get down on the floor and chew the carpet to get 100%. I have six SC conditions both mental and physical that make work impossible and mobility a question mark plus I take oxycodone and morphine so I am chairbound and housebound often. At my varo turning your back on a VA quack examiner is like dropping the soap in the shower in prison. You get it in the end.

John:

I am pretty sure that you would be approved but from your neck of woods may take a long time you know your VARO much better than I do. If you win would get a nice retro check. Your diagnosis, wheel chair and medicine would indicate that you qualify. It took me 4 months which may be a record for WACO.

Start out with the Form filled out by one of your Docs or private Doc and go from there.

I got sorta of a stupid answer when I sent a e-mail to ny local VARO, a week ago. this had to do with my housebound/A/A claim I filed in early 2004, about 4 years ago now. This claim and several others went into the BVA 2 months ago, I have asked them on several occassions, why I have never received a comp exam, they said if the BVA wants to give me a exam, they will, I told them I reliazed that, but why did't the va give out more comp/pension exams, right away, before it went to the BVA, it would save sa lot of time and grieve, the way the guy acted, it did,t even dawn on him, to set me up with a exam, as I see no other way to see if you qualify for housebound/A/A. unless I am missing something this time, I know a exam can be asked for anytime, but why later then sooner, that just just draw the process out that much longer, instead of 6 months or so, in my case will be a least 5 years.

Frosty:

I don't think that they will give it to you without a C&P. I had one for mine.

Good Luck

PS The local VARO that I have gives me false and misleading information all the time.

Pete

I did't think I could get turned down for housebound/a/a without a C/P EITHER, BUT THEY DID that, i think the VARO, will do anything legal or illgegal, if they feel they won't get question, on it, then if they get call on it, then they go into all the double talk, all they are really trying to do is slow down the process, in the va favor, in my case they know I have serious cancer issue's, so they are hoping I die before the case is settled, then they are of the hook, on about 10,000-15,000 in backpay, as I still feel they get a kickback from the va, by slowing down certain cases.

Mentioning A&A or housebound claims, just got a current retired 'bulletin', mentioned theres online help at VetsPensionPrograms, I visited the site(s), found it targets for A&A, housebound claims as reason for its nonprofit services. Interesting nfp site, many VA forms and many disclaimers. Maybe theres information there? best to ya, cg

Frosty:

That really sucks. I wish you the best.

Around 295 I think

Talk about hadit. I have had it. Can some PLEASE show me in the regs where it says that the housebound rate is $300? That is a challenge to anybody who can show me on the va compensation charts, or any other official writing that number. When I look at the charts, I see the housebound rate as 1114 (s) and a number aside it that says $2700. If someone would show me that number ANYWHERE except some contrived notion that the 100% schedular rating is included in that amount. ("...cause see. If you were only drawing $2600 for 100 percent, then you get the dependents allowance it comes to $2900 when you add the $300") That was va reps talking to me abount my case. My friend,,,THAT is known affectionately as VOODOO economics, and it is garbage. Even if my case is not settled in my favor, you guys REALLY need to look a little closer at what the regs say. The Honorable Shelley Berkley put it this way. ""Laws passed by Congress cannot achieve their desired result unless those who are intended to benefit from them are made aware of their existence." 2005 The Honorable Shelley Berkley

I believe it's the "S" rate and is currently $295 per month, as Pete stated.
