Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Mine went to the rating board on the 16th or thereabouts. It was in "POST" as of Wednesday, as in Post Determination Team. I have NO idea how long that will take, hopefully, not long. I guess the Post Determination Team does all the final checking to make sure everything is Kosher with the amount/percentage, effective date(s), dependents, and if Champva is applicable, ect.?

Anywho, it won't be long for either of us, we hope, right?

bosun,

It is impossible to give a time frame as to how long it will take. It all dependes on how backed up your regional office is, how many issues you have claimed, is all of the needed development completed ect...? It can take any where from a couple of weeks to half a year. Just sit back and let the VA do there thing and try not to worry about it.

I currently have aclaim at the BVA at the Ratings Board.

Called them & they said "They were working on March & April of '05 & had received my claim January of '06"

I filed in '05 & it took a bit to get to the BVA so I have no idea how long it will be before someone looks at it.

My feeling is if one stays at the RO level the deniels never quit.

I had to be at the BVA to get my first SC & all told it took 9 years.

These people surely don't get in a hurry....GARY

As I stated in my prior post in this string. My claim went to the rating board on the 16th of March. It was in Post Determination a week. I received my decision today, 5th of April.

Almost LIGHT SPEED, considering!

My claim(s) have been given a "tentative" decision, says the DAV. But, the DAV said my rating may change when the official decision is issued to me.... and, I think it will change. DAV said it will be 2 or 3 weeks before I receive an official rating in the mail.

As anticipated, I was "low-balled" on my overall rating. I didn't expect anything different.... but I do expect that it will change when it goes final. With my case, the VA is playing their cards, bluff. I won't backdown and I think they know that and will change my rating before going final, increasing it. If they don't, it will only cost the tax-payers more money. But, when has the government been concerned about taxpayer's money? NEVER.... and it won't change with my claims.

I think the reason DAV says this in their letters is to protect themselves from liability suits in case the decision adversely changes between the time they receive their copy of a rating decision, notify you, and when the rating decision is authorized. I'm not trying to set you off, but I highly doubt that your rating will be different than what they have told you it would be. It looks to me like you'll need to be asking for a DRO review if you think you are getting "low-balled."

Difference in DRO and BVA is DRO can change decision and give you a rating if not, send to BVA that mean, you get two looks. If DRO granted claim it go to the post determination team and you should have money in hand in about three weeks.Whenever BVA grant claim if they do Bva have to send claim back to your regional office and it take about four months before you get money and that all depends how backlog office that handle your claim is.
