    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

How Do I Delete Multiple Posts Of The Same Question?

tssnave

Question

I have no idea what's up with my system but when I tried to post my question about total and permanent as it pertains to IU I kept getting a black screen that locked up my system. It did not appear to post to the forum until the last time I tried it. Then, when I came back later I see that it posted several times.

Is there any way to delete a duplicate (triplicate, quadruplicate....) post you've written yourself or does a moderator have to delete it?

I apologize for the hassle. The only thing I can think of is the next time this happens where it doesn't look like it's posting to the forum I'll close my browser and come back in before I try posting again.

Any other suggestions on how to prevent this when you get a black screen would be appreciated.

Thanks,

tssnave

Carlee,

Thanks for deleting most of the extra posts. There are still two of the same ones up on the Total and Permanent with IU.

Hoppy has answered one of them and the other doesn't have any replies. Could you please delete the earlier one that doesn't have any replies?

Thanks and sorry again for the hassle,

ts

Actually you can edit or delete anything that you post. Or leave it to a moderator.

Pete,

How do you delete your own posts? I know how to do a full or quick edit and correct typos and once before I used the edit to delete the text of a duplicate post but it didn't delete the post itself (in other words, there was just a blank post but I couldn't get that to go away).

If there's a way to delete our own posts please let me know.

Thanks,

ts

Tbird,

Thanks! I don't which I thought was more cool - the media player instructional video you sent or the fact that I can fix my mistakes and delete duplicate posts. I tried it out in the test area and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for all you do running the site. I suspect you answer the same questions many times over and I appreciate your patience.

Thanks,

ts

no problem mate - i need to do more of those videos, i think they work well i just have to find the right piece of software, the one i used for your clip was a demo and has some limitations i need to find something that can make the files much small i'm looking at something called instant demo and i'll see if it works for us and i can put it in the budget.
