Medical Exam For Ssd

Question

Well I had my medical exam on Wednesday. It was a long day. It seemed to me that the Internal Medicine doc was not on the ball too much. I might have been in her office for maybe 25 min, maybe less. They were very busy there. The Psych doctor, well I was in the room for about 45 min or so. I felt very uneasy and nervous. He made me feel like I was stupid. I can't explain it, but I hope it all goes in my favor.

The case worker on my claim told me to call him 2 weeks after the exam and he should have an update or answer for me. Ok, now I just sit back and wait, with my fingers crossed of course!

john999,

The denial rate for SSD is much higher than the VA, unless you have so much medical evidence the SSA has to say yes(which rarely happens). I am not sure where you live, but it does go state to to state on the time frame issues. I live in NY and I have been waiting since early October 06 for a decision from the SSA for disability. Just as I called to inquire about the status, poof a letter came stating I now have to go see a state doctor, which was just this past Wednesday. It was so busy in the office, people were standing. As for my VA claim, my inital award letter came to me just 25 days short of a year and I am still waiting for the rest of my deferred issues. I have a friend who lives in Missouri and it only took on average for her with a SSA claim 3-4 months for an answer and less than a year for a VA decision. It does seem awful unfair that many people wait for years and years and even die waiting for an answer from the VA, but in my opinion I would rather have things done right and thoroughly the first time like the VA, than have to get denied only to have 60 days to appeal with the SSA, and even then you can get denied a second time. I think it usually works out in the end, well I can only hope so anyhow.

Someone tell me how the SSA can approve a disability in just 2-3 months and it takes the VA 5 years.
