  1. Dear Carlie, yes,in fact, my wife is posting 'comments' for me as do I! Because I sometimes become frustrated and angry over what is happening to a once great veterans organization since 1993 National Convention! The facts speak for themself! First, let me give you my military service: U.S. Army (VN Vet 1967-69) AND U.S. Navy (operation fluid drive june 1976) RIF in 1982! My qualifications collecting information is concidered extensive in nature!

Chapter 18, Bradenton, Fl. Is NO more, as is chapter 92 , Orange City, Fl. Their charters were revoked and their members "put at-large" July 28, 2011. As is the chapter in Ft. Lauderdale ( there is a Sun sentinel news article published Feb. 21, 2012 explaining what happened there).

I would also like to bring to your attention to a Veterans Post news article posted in 2006 or 2007! It explains, in full detail what members of the DAV are opposing with the "higher-ups in the DAV! It concerned a "Former Chapter of the DAV", how national and state 'paid employees' tried to take their building! They failed. The former chapter calls themselves "The Honorably Discharged Veterans of Sarasota Florida"! Look them up and you will see they were around LONGER than the DAV. They were instituted in 1919 as Veterans of WW1.

There is a number of chapters nationwide that have been 'shut down' for little to no reason. Try Az., Menomonie , Wisc. Chapter 26, Maine, all of New Jersey, Colorado Springs,Colorado and more. If you look you will find them. Many of the chapters do not own their buildings. When you call their phones have been disconnected, or are fax machines, or they are 'at-large', or they are personal phone numbers, the number automatically transfers you to the State Dept.

I hope you look-up this website; www.gainesvilletimes.com/section/6/article/66065. It concerns the DAV and the Golden Corral fundraising of 2011. In this article the inspector general National DAV states there are 1500 chapters. I will give you the benefit of doubt and say there are 2000 chapters everywhere- divide that by 50 and what do you have? 40!

There is much more out there. You just have to look. As many would say to you- HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

  2. To all who responded. Thank You. I hope you all look up the 'websites' my husband and I gave here to "DAV Reform"! Look them up and it should not surprise anyone what State and National(paid employees) executives have done to a "ONCE great non-profit veteran organization"!

I believe Congress should revoke their charter ASAP, and make them pay taxes on ALL of the millions of dollars that they have stashed away!

    What do you think?

If you have the time, go to "the honorably dischaged veterans of sarasota county", "veterans post", and "veterans for DAV reform". There is a great deal of info out there as to how the DAV treats its members! There are countless newspaper articles stating how the DAV is treating vets across this great country. You just have to look! There are also MANY .org and .gov websites that will inform you of the DAV, and its treatment to vets. Remember this one thing, if you join a 'veterans org', and then become dissatisfied, you will NOT get your money returned to you! I wish you the best in your seach for a great Vetern Service Officer. I used a vso who worked out of the county I lived in, and gave the VFW my POA. To tell the truth, I was extreemly satisfied with them and their time and work they did for me!

If anyone out there believes I'm stating a falsehood, I dare them to prove me wrong!

TAC. U.S.Army (vietnam vet 1967-1969) AND U.S. Navy (operation fluid drive-Beirut,Lebanon June 1976)!

  4. Hello folks. My Husband Served in the Army and Navy. My Dad served in the Army. My son served in the Navy. My husband is a member of the DAV. Since he has been a member for 4 yrs I have seen the state members which Ironiclly are the Trustees take down at least 4 chapters which actually was helping Veterans in every aspect of the word. I seen them pay bills for buy food for the vets in need. I seen them Donate monies to the rest home for Veterans. Then the trustees took over and took the monies and their buildings. Why? GREED. Where do they learn this? NATIONAL. National always has enough Monies for all the Building to stay open and help the Homeless Vets. So why don't they do that? Again GREED. They are closing down building left and right. Why? For the Monies. GREEd is the doorway to all evilness. DAV needs to do what they preach.
