  1. I was assigned 0% SC on my L ankle when I retired in 2005. In 2010, I was awarded 10%, on this ankle for degenerative bone. I have since been diagnosed with GOUT on this ankle. I have had 4 attacks last year that did not let me walk for several days at a time even though my VA PCM prescribed Allopurinol to me. I have had 3 attacks this year already. My question is this, by 38 CFR under code 5002 could I ask to be increased? If so what % should I ask for and do I go to the Dr every time I have a flare up so I get it documented so they see that it did indeed occur?

  2. My name is Luis M. Olivas. I served for 21 yrs, 4 in the Corps & 17 and some change in the Army. Did all my time in the Corps in 3rd MarDiv stationed on Camp Hansen. Got out decided that working out in the oil fields of Southeast NM & West Texas wasn't my calling. So decided to make the military my career and joined the Army. Got stationed in Ft Carson, CO, then went to Berlin BDE, then got sent Ft Hood, TX, then went on Recruiting duty, then came back and retired out of Ft Hood, TX. Did my service for my country as best as I could and along the way got injured and continued to do my duty. Took care of my soldiers and their families with the belief that I would be taken care of. The whole time failing to get myself taken care of by making sure that every time I was injured that my medical records were being updated with the correct paperwork so once I got out, I would be taken care of. I wish I would have known about sleep apnea, TBI, GOUT, degenerative bone disease, acid reflux, and some of the other ailments that I have been diagnosed with now that I need proof of that the medics forgot to put in the paperwork when I went on sick call for. Wish the DR or PA's would have taken the time needed to really look after me and not just given me Motrin and take a few days off from running Sarge and you will be alright.
