12R3G it depends on the type of Sleep APnea you have been diagnosed with.
If it is Obstructive then there is little hope unless you have developed the right sided heart failure or Corpumonole.
a lot of folks who have OSA and no not get treatment wind up with Pulmonary HTN which wuoud get you 100 percent P and T.
Central Sleep apnea is a different issue and can be rated permanent and total because the underlying factor is the CNS.
Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your guidance. I will follow your instructions and request "K" award. I'll let you know how I make out.
-
You should ask for a K rating from the VARO. If the 0% was awarded in the last year you should appeal and ask for a K award and a review of yout 0% award to give you the K award.
What justification do I use to ask award for a "K" rating as I just got awarded the 0 rating?
-
I received a 0% rating for ED. Someone said that you get a schedule K award. I did not see any mention in my letter I got from the VA. Only that 0% was awarded effective March 2008. No change in award amount. Is that correct.

I am currently rated 10% Hypertensive Heart disease and 10 % HBP. I had a follow up Echo and Nuclear Stress Test (NST). Results of NST: Patiet exercised 5 minutes, 3 seconds on a Bruce protcol. BP went up to 180/100 and heart rate up to 157, which is98% of predicted. EKG at rest shows sinus rythm, left axis, isoelectric ST segments at rest. During the test, the patient developed 1MM ST segment depression in V2, V3, V4, V5, V6, up to a maximum of 2mm horizontal. During recovery phase, the ST segments returned to normal.
However the nuclear stress test showd no ischemia, no scar, no change from previous test. Ejection fraction 68%. NST sugests no significant uderlying heart disease and the EKG presumably is a false-positive. In the absence of major chest pain, I think conservative measures are advised at this point. No indicaton heart cath at his time.
Echo results: Well-preserved left and right ventricular function, No LVH. Nomal aortic valve. There is a 1+ mitral and 1+ tricuspid regurgitation without valvular stenosis on a scale of 0-4. Mild left atrium enlargent of 4.3 cm. Normal pulmonary artery pressure. No pericardial effusion. No clot. Satisfactory echo.
Based on these results am I properly rated at 10%. Any thoughts?

Congratulations to you as well. Your side bar shows only 20%, so it must be new. I recieved retroactive pay from VA for 2 ratings recieved two months ago. 1 new, 1 increase. The rating letter sort of explained it with a chart, dates awarded, amount withheld and all. Hoping more details soon, per say, how crdp and va offset worked. cg
Thats correct it is new. I'm now up to 60% BTW sidebar corrected thanks for reminding me to correct it.

Am content just now, 60 days after rating change, VA retro pay onboard, paid a few bills. No explanation letter yet.No dependents rate yet, am hoping that will be "retro"d. Winter's next, kids growin' and need clothes. Part time work here is tiresome because of my health issues. Husband works, but I know he takes up slack in what I could be earning full time. (gettin' a yummy new bathrobe for him) Hope VA retro comes round for others expectin' it here too, feels good to get some of whats due. cg
Cowgirl what retropay are you all talking about. I'm confused. I just got awarded 60% disability as well.
-
Thanks Jimmy, I too was curious about the "when" and "if" of backpay, told by teh VA and DFAS each other would pay, nearly sounded like car dealer "doubletalk" on the 1800#s! smile. Hope to see backpay in the next month, that'd put joy in my heart! Just recieved the benefit letter last month, and so far I have recieved my VA and CRDP. The reward letter explained simply the offset and CRDP amount, but didnt "detail" out backpay as of yet. Also added dependents, so I expect a delay. Sounds like you recieved a very detailed letter so I will wait to do tax adjustments until I get my letter. Hope it all pans out clearly here as it did for you, thanks a bunch.cg
Could someone explain what backpay you all are talking about. I am 60% awarded this month retro to June 2007.

The VA does the same thing to me. Since I am SC for about 6 conditions how the devil do they have the gall to bill my insurance for anything? How do they separate out what treatment, like bloodwork, is for a service or NSC condition. I am SC for pain disorder and DMII so just about every treatment or med is for something SC yet the VA still finds some way to bill my insurance. I have fought over this with my BC/BS and they went along with paying the VA even when I told them the VA was cheating them. The VA even billed my insurance for a C&P exam. Billing a 100% vet for anything is a slap in the face.
I have to disagree with you. If you have insurance and don't give them the info then VA costs go up and maybe some other veteran who needs help is left out because of the money situtation and doesn't get the help he needs. Remember those costs are passed on to your provider. I have both options and use both doctors to my advantage

I currently am rated 10% Hypertension, 10% heart condition and 50% sleep apnia. My diffusion method reads DLCO-SB L 33.43 18.70 55.9 25.23
In addition chest xray showed a vague new modular density measuring approximately 4 mm in the right upper lobe. Cat scan reading was benign but I mst go back in 3 months, 6 months 12 months and 24 months.
I worked in the Pentagon for eleven years as well as a tropo site where my office was inside the comm/power plant office.
I don't know if I was exposed to anything at the tropo site but the Pentagon did go through renovation because of asbestos.
Have I been exposed to anything that may put me in harms way and should I put in a claim based on these results. I now have a slight cough. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a pulmonary test and I don't know what it means
using the machine it said my FVC 74.4, FEV1 75.0, FEF25 - 75 = 73.5, FEV1/FVC % = 79
After Bronchodilator
FVC 72.7, FEV1 75.5, FEF25 - 75 = 83.7,FEV1/FVC % = 82
Interpretation: No obstructive lung defect indicated by the FEV1/FVC. There is a moderate restrictive lung defect. There is a decrease in diffusing capacity. FEF 25-75 changed by 14%. This is interpreted as an insignificant response to bronchodilator.
What is this telling me ?

I also have a claim in. I called the 800 number and they told me a decision was made and was being entered into the computer and then has to be checked by someone to be sure there were no errors before I get my notice in the mail. I asked them how long it would be and they said it shouldn't be long anyone know what that means?
-
I had a pulmonary test and it came back moderate restrictive lung defect. I had an xray which shows a vague new nodular density measuring 4mm in the right upper lobe and have a CT scan scheduled. Currently 10% HBP and 10% heart condition. Do I have grounds for any other claims?
-
I had an abnormal ekg reading twice when I took my physicals. Was referred to a cardiologist and was seeing him for over two yeasr before I filed a claim for a heart condition. I was awarded 10 %.

I just had a C&P exam and went through a breathing test/exam for sleep apnea where I had to breath through a tube and hold my breath etc. My exam said I had medium respitory failure, but don't remember the exact wording. I am also on a cpap machine. I would never of discovered a problem if it hadn't been for the Dr. who conducted a C&P exam for a heart condition secondary claim to HBP. He told me there was a corelation of sleep apnia to HBP and heart condition. He literally save my life as my test showed out of a worst case scenario of a 10 I had a 9. Now I'm waiting to see what I will be awarded if any. Currently HBP 10% and Heart 10%.
So there are good doctors at the VA who care and also thank you for your service.

Does anyone know someone who is rated 100% for Sleep Apnea. I for one don't.
