  1. I received notice from DAV That my claim for PTSD had changed. My NOD was for total & permenant status for my 100% TDUI. Got my decision was ,evaluation of ptsd which is currently 70% disability, is increased to 100% p/t effective to 2005. This was a shock to me to say the least. They did a complete turn around on my claim. I have just gotten a lawyer involved but this happened only weeks after I got him I don't think he is involved yet. My question is I am 100% PTSD t&p and hearing impairment at 40% and tinnitus at 10%, and my hearing is consider profound. Do I qualify for SMC with these conditions. Thanks

  2. I got a decision from VA of 80% combined with payments of 100% TDIU but not permanent and total. I can't get medical for my wife under chamv and they scheduled me for a c&p exam in August 2009. I am 70%PTSD, 40% hearing and 10% tinnitus, 80% combined. I don't understand why they think I am going to get better. I have been in counseling since 2004 and take meds for anxiety and depression. They always try messing with your head. Please tell me whats going on. Thanks

  3. If you are in receipt of IU I would be filing for SSD right now as of the last day you worked don't wait until you turn 62 SSD pays more than regular SS retirement get to filing

I went to social security and they said I didn,t qualify because I haven't paid in in the last five quarters, I don't have enough credits.

  4. I received my letter from DAV saying my claim was decided and my agent Orange claim was denied, but total rating based on unemployability was granted. I am 80% combined plus entilement to benefits at the 100%rate due for unemployability. It also says a future examination will be scheduled in August 2009. What does mean and am I total and permanent? Should I still fight for the other claims I have out.

  5. Mind telling us what the questions are.

Pete I gave the survey to my cousilor, she said it look kinda fishy too, and said it should state what is was to be used for and what it was meant to show. It didn't, I let her have it, but will get back and will try and and get to you. fishes

  6. I received my survey from the Department of Veterans. What a joke. It came with a 5 dollar bill in cash papered clipped to the survey with instructions I could keep this money even if I didn't fill it out. It is a survey that asks me to check boxes in response to their cleverly crafted questions and has no place where I can't add my input in a statement made by me. If they really want to know what I think why not let me tell like it is. The Doctor running this says she has treated Vertans for PTSD for 15 years, my question is if she has done this that long what questions are left to answer. It says 13,000 veterans are getting this survey and in six months another survey will be sent and another $5.00 will be sent. $130,000 dollars wasted not counting the man hours to do this . Another million dollars study gone to some stupid survey, that money good be better served for treatment to Vets. I hate these people and all they stand for.

  7. Please keep in mind that when a claim has been sent to the rating team (rating board) it simply means that the predetermination team has decided that all the evidence is there (as rental said) and they feel it is ready to rate. It DOES NOT mean a rater is actually working on your claim. It is in the rating area filed somewhere, waiting in line with all the other claims in the ratine area.

Once the rater does pull the file for review, then he/she will review it to insure that they have enough evidence to make a decision. If they agree that enough evidence is there they will review the claim and make a decision. If they feel that not enough evidence is available they will send it back to the pre-determination guys and gals and ask them to schedule a C&P, send you a letter asking for more evidence etc. Once this is complete then it is back off to the rating area.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but that is the way the system works. When the rater begins to actuall work on the file is anybody's guess. However, being sent to the rating team is a significant event and a definite indication that your file/claim is on the move.

  8. I received from Minneapolis Mn a letter asking me to help in a study about PTSD and my perspective of how it affects me and my life. I have a claim pending with BVA for PTSD. My question is should I do it. The things I have to say are not flattering to the VA or the care we receive. Should I do the survey and has anyone here received a letter. They need to be told

Thanks for your post, I have this sincere wish about the VA, in that I want them to pay for what they have done to me and all veterans that are suffering because of their arrogance, and incompetence. Its all about doing the right thing. We need a way to bring to the light of day all the pain they have caused to countless people and their families. I keep remenbering the Walter Reed incident and that now famous line from General Kiley "I don't do barracks"

The reason I asked about this survey they asked me to do, Maybe in a small way it would help make it right, if nothing else take away their excuse of "I didn't Know." have lost all faith in the system and the Government their reality Is not our reality and sadly probably never will be.

  10. I am a charter Captain, and my license from the Coast Guard is up for renewal. I am 70% PTSD and 40% for hearing impairement. MY hearing is way beyond the curve that they allow. I think 70 decibels or less is allowed, and VA considers 40decibels as impaired.Mine is from 85 to 105 in the 2000,3000,4000 range. Along with the PTSD I think I cann't renew. Would like your comments Thanks

  11. Fishes welcome to Hadit, let us know how your tdiu is going, even in another post of the same title. Current question for you. Have you got a copy of your Cfiles? Your C&P copies should be in there and all your submitted information to the VA.

By the way, did you need to fill out more than one form for TDIU as of yet? My initial claim is in, but I havent been given the Industrial Survey, but think I should get a copy soon. Best to ya, cg

cowgirl I don't have my C-File or my C&Ps, I only filled out one TDIU. My question is, my case was sent to the rating board, does this mean it was approved and was sent there to be rated a new % or is the rating board the next stop for it to be approved. Thanks for your help

  12. I didn't get copies of my C&P, but the hearing Doc said my hearing was no worse but is bad. Right ear average decibels 66.25,with 68% speech recognition, left year 83.75 and 48% speech recognition. The other C&P I don't know but he did my PTSD evaulation gave me GAF of 45, and chornic PTSD and major depression. Thanks for your help
