  1. Yes, I applied for IU back in May 2010 with my intial claim. I have been at the rating board since October of last year and just went back to the development stage about a month ago, received VCAA notice along with the request of more documents, signed the notice and got all the documents they were requesting hand carried everytthing to the RO got TIMESTAMPED and my copies. About a week later received letter from Voc Rehab with an scheduled appointment!..? Appt is tommorrow

  2. Hey thanks Carlie for the information..I really don't know what to make of this I'm just going to the appointment on the set date!

I had an Air Force buddy that was granted Chapter 31 - VRE benefits, prior to a rating decision granting ANY SC at all.I remembered the papers read it was due to an administrative memorandum ratingfor VRE purposes. Here's the closest thing I could find - it's froM M28. HOPE IT HELPS SOMEONE.

VR&E Division Employee or Veterans Service Center Employee

    Receives and processes formal claims

    responds to informal claims

obtains additional information from the veteran, when necessary

enters data into and retrieves information from the Benefits Delivery Network (BDN) and Corporate Case Management System (CWINRS)

generates a Chapter 31general eligibility determination (GED) printout, and

    verifies disability and memorandum ratings.

  3. Thanks for your reply, the letter states that i have been referred by one of the VA care-givers for an assessment by the Voc-Rehab staff. It also asks for me to bring in a paper copy of my recent work history and/or hand written resume...is this procedure? (my claim is still pending)

VA doesn't usually make appt's unless you apply. If you haven't applied then I believe the VA may have sent the letter in error, by confusing you with another vet, perhaps w/the same name. You do need to be service connected to receive Voc Rehab.

  4. Yea R dawg I was just stuck for a minute wondering if i should send in the information again, but then starting thinking that it wouldn't hurt it SHOULD help in a way so I took everything they were requesting and called the 1800 # and asked if they can go into the system and note to my regional office that everything is in and ready to continue on with the process...So no we all wait!! Dont Give Up Stay On Em!

the same thing happened to me. I sent an IRIS requesing they verify they had the documents they were requesting. They responded that they had the records they were requesting. Now I wait.

  5. Hey thanks Wings I really do appreciate your support and advice in dealing with this claim process!!

Yes, it's crazy, no doubt about it! The VA has a proven historical record of losing documents accidently and on purpose! IMO, send both: the documents they have requested AND a copy of the ebenfits screen that shows they were already submitted. CYA.!

Your claim is still fairly new, so to speak, and the dates you indicate seem to be normal processing times. ~Wings

  6. Received notice today that I'm back to the decision phase after being at the rating board since 10/20/10, got VCAA notice in the mail and along with the notice is VA requesting more documents they already have the documents their requesting now and according to my ebenefits account they have receieved all the documents last year at the start of my claim 5/6/10.(STR,DD 214,etc) should I send in these documents again or should I just send in the VCAA letter. Is this going to slow up my claim? what exactly is going on this is crazy

  7. Hey thanks for the reply! This is my initial claim I'm trying to be patient as I possibly can with this whole process and yes it does get very hard at times.. I was just trying to get feedback from people here if they have came across issues like mine. The Va rep stated that in the month of october alone someone signed on my claim then signed off my claim 5 times... for example:Signed on-October 5 Signed off October 10/ Signed on October 12 Signed off October 17/ Signed on October 24- and the VA rep stated that was the last action regarding my claim! I know my fellow Vets here always say any activity on a claim is good news, but in this instance i just really don't know if this is good news or what!!!

rating boards can be tricky. depending on what you are claiming for an increase on and what they find during their process - it can take a while. don't get discouraged. there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I put in an increase for my claim in Dec of 2010 for PTSD and it went to the raters Aug 22 2010 and just got kicked back to developemental 10/20/2011 for things I didn't claim - that they said they needed more evidence for. I went and spoke to a DAV rep and they signed off on the letter with me saying that all the evidence was in my medical records already along with everything we had already submitted and we had nothing further to submit and to just go ahead and rate it as is. So don't get discouraged. I know the let downs and the waiting and frustration. i am there myself. depending on what you are claiming your increase for will depend on the complexity of your claim and the amount of time it will take to decide as well as if the evidence to support it is all there. I hope that helps...

  8. Alright Hadit family...I broke down and called the 1800 # and the VA rep told me that my claim has been "touched" (someone signed on and signed off) 5 times in the month of October alone as the 24th being the last action on my claim. Is this something new at the Regional level or what? This is stressful! A little history about my claim: intial-may 6 2010 went to rating board oct 20 2010. Any insight from my family here on Hadit?

  9. i really dont understand your last post i dont know if that was a joke or what not, but this whole claim process is very stressful for PTSD patients. I've been at the rating board since 10/20/2010 and filed for hardship 11/27/2010 this bit of information i received today i thought was good but now i'm starting to feel otherwise according to the replies, I was told that my claim has now been assigned to a rater after being at the rating board for 8 months..what does this actually mean?

Yea - I'll take it on with a guesstimate.

If you are a Nehmer claimant the following DOES NOT apply.

My crystal ball shows evidence of you receiving a rating decision

within the next 60 to 365 days.

Since you have filed for hardship the rating decision should arrive

somewhere in the middle of the above timeframe.

The crystal ball shows partially cloudy which usually means there

was at least one issue granted as SC'd - but you will not be content

with the percentage assigned and may need to file a Notice of Disagreement.

Sometimes my crystal ball is way off.

I hope for you - this is one of those times.

  10. I just called the 1800 # and the rep tells me that my file has been pulled (looked at) on the 5th, 7th, and 8th(today) of this month..can anyone please shed a little light on this situation and whats going on...I asked the rep if she would elaborate and she stated that was all she was able to see...Note: I'm still at the rating board and have been there since 10/20/2010 and my entire claim is now going on 1 year (started 5/6/2010)!! Can someone please help I'm stressing out at the fact of simply "not knowing" as to what this means or could mean!!

  11. be thankful..there are some vets like myself thats been waiting just hear SOMETHING back from their initial claim!!

I got my retro today and it don't add up i was 10% so i was getting 123 a month now im 30% and getting 376 a month differance of 253

new ratings are granted effective 6/1/10 so the way I understand it the the first check that would have to be paid in retro would have been paid on 10/01

so I figure my back pay should be 2277.00 how do i get a check for 2262.48 is there a fee involved with the claims process i aint gonna fight for 12 bucks i just dont understand where it came from

  12. Thanks Pete 53!! Apprecitate you all

It took me 5 and one half years. My advice is to work on your claim like it is a job but limit the time spent to an hour or two a day. Take the weekends and holidays off.

Hadits homepage is a gold mine and if you have questions feel free to use the forum.

Don't let this consume you but also don't ignore it. Continue to check and prod to move the claim along.

Mine finally broke when I sent an email to President Bill Clinton and I had won and was paid in less than 2 months. Many here say that this kind of pressure does not work but I am convinced it did for me.

  13. Hey thanks Vets Lady..that was very sound advice and i really do appreciate it!! I will contiue to wait and hopefully good things will happen!! Once again Thank you all!!

I know, just as many Veterans and their family members here do also, that it's very hard to wait and wait and wait. You already have the hardship request in, you can verify with IRIS that

"hardship" has been attached to your claim file. Not sure if you have a VSO helping you out or not, but they may be able to find out where the claim is at. You can also contact your

Congressman or Senators office and speak with their liasion person about the situation, they can put in an Inquiry for you, it should not hold your claim up since it's at the RO level and

each RO has liasions who work with the Senators and Congressman on behalf of their States Veterans.

It seems like a long time when you are on the waiting end of a decision, many here have been doing just that for years. Having a hardship involved, whether it's financial or medical makes

the wait even harder. It's like watching grass grow at a ski resort in winter. We filed my husbands claim 8 years ago and it took 6 of those to get him any sc and another 2 to finalize the

rest as his claim ended up at the Board of Veterans Appeals. We had medical and financial hardship attached, the VSO we began with 8 years ago filed the claim and filed the appeal but

in our case that was it. Many VSO's do a fine job, some not so fine. Ultimately it's your claim and you have to be involved as much as possible or, your spouse. After waiting 5 years for

"something" I called our Congressman's office who saw my husband hadn't even had a C&P exam and that got the ball rolling .... but it took a very long time and just about took us to the

outer limits. Believe me, the folks here on Hadit threw a life vest out to me more than once.

It appears that claims are moving through and if all of your evidence is in and solid, then hopefully there will be a decision very soon.

I hope these words help in any little way, no Veteran should have to wait and wait and wait.

We'll all be looking for that hopefully soon post on the Success thread from you !

Blessings to you and your family,

    VetsLady

  14. I've done all the above...! I went in to the VARO back in December and actually sat and spoke with an counselor and the only thing he basically told me was to "continue to wait, the average time here at the Little Rock RO is about 6 months" here it is going on 9 months still havent heard a word, but your in the decsion phase 'still' this is nonsense..IM THE VET!!

You should have heard by now. If you can go to the VARO without to much effort you should go and ask to see a Councilor and have them look into it with you sitting across the table.

If that is a problem you might want to call and ask for an inquiry into where your file is and at what stage it is in. 800-827-1000

    Good Luck

  15. Yes I've had all C and P's back in July and PTSD in October..and I'm trying to be very patient but its hard!

Just be sure all your documents and claims are at the VA. You can't really hurry them. You just have to wait. Have you had C&P exams on all these issues?

  16. Claim start date: May 6th, arrived at the rating board October 20th...filed for financial hardship November 27th and now im still waiting someone please help me with this process!! called and got IRIS and they basically told me to continue to wait in the Little Rock RO..this is ridicoulous..my claims are left shoulder sublaxation with possible bony Bankart, bilateral patellar, Subscapularis tendonitis, Low back strain, and PTSD..someone please chime in on what they think about this process and possible percentage?!!! thanks

  17. Thanks for replying..I know its a tedious process is just so frustrating for me!! I've lost everything and filed for hardship back in november just haven't heard anything. Thank you for your honest replies and many Vets have been waiting far too long for what we all deserve

Hey thanks for the support..waiting is the hard part I guess I know that our fellow Vets have been waiting years and years for what we all deserve..It's just frustrating for me!!
