  1. Was recently awarded 100%, effective date Sept 30th 2019, case  was closed June 18th 2020. I am grateful to this forum for the wealth of knowledge as it has definitely helped me greatly in times of my restlessness and anxiety. My question is about how long do you think retro pay will take to hit bank account? My guess is possibly the 1st or is retro pay randomly deposited?

  2. This is for disability. The VA stated that there was a change in my claim and it's to be effective 01/30/2014 I am not sure if that has anything to do with the payment but i'll keep the forum posted if I am to be paid again on the 1st.

  3. Today I logged onto Ebenefits to check payment history and am wondering why the VA paid me already for the 1st of January then again on the 31st then following another scheduled payment for February 1st. It also says "The effective date of the last change to your current award was 1/30/2014" any ideas on what this means?

  4. rpowell01,

If you are on VA disablility and a active member of the National Guard, you can only get paid for one. So members usually take the higher of the two. Most members quit after there comitment is done if their VA comp is higher, unless they are close to getting 20 years for a age 60 retirement. You don't get any drill pay, however you get retirement points and "good years" which are important to a reserve retirement.

    Hamslice

I am nowhere near retirement and I don't plan on staying in long enough for it, I would just rather be discharged under general but honorable.

  5. Attend drills without pay? Please explain that one for me...

    Congrats on your comp...

Yea i brought it up to my chain of command and they said they will freeze my pay so that I wont have to pay it all back come tax season, Drill pay does not amount to much and I am no where near retirement to even be bothered with it, so as of now I am trying to be parented from my national guard contract and be done with it.

  6. After a long year of waiting and numerous letters of pending actions on my claim the time has come on October 23, 2013.

I received a rating of 60% with a nice sized amount of backpay. The down side is that I'm still in the national guard and have to attend drills without pay, but I am happy that I finally received my rating.

    "Thank God"

  7. Hello everyone I'm new to the forum and have been reading alot of your experiences witht the VA and for the most part it seems like a very difficult matrix. As for a little about my self I have served for only 4 years as an infantryman and in those 4 years I destoryed my knees and back but as you all know infantryman are all about being toughe and never letting pain bother them. I regret not building a record of treatment while I was in service but it seems the little paper work I turned in might get me modest compensation but I'm not expecting big numbers. My VSO seems to know her stuff but whatever rating I do get I wont bother appealing as I'm still stuck in the infantry state of mind of accepting what I am given and adapting. Nice to meet everyone sleep.png
