Just joined this forum and found it very informative. I to am out of Bham with almost identical circumstances. 3Dboot according to apparent in house rule "denied" due to no replacement after 3 years. I attacched a copy of V A policy regarding replacement which strangely does not mention a "3 year rule" . Also attached a copy of their own record of issuance oa 3D boot(rigid orthotic) yet in spite this, was denied. I too was conspicuously re-issued a soft velcro metal inserted brace Jan. 2013 even after informing the technician and being advised this is whats being issued, much different from rigid insert(molded heat formed) initially issued Dec 2008(misplaced it). Presented with my old rigid back brace Sept 2012 along with my boot (literally split down the middle) for inspection and both were denied due to apparent in house 3 year rule. My appeal, I was informed, was somewhere over in Atlanta in a pumpkin patch I presume(lol). Not received word on 2013 clothing allowance yet. Back has worsened since the top of the year presumably caused by the issuance of the wrong back brace. I am presently attempting remedy through my pcp regarding re-issuance of proper and same brace issue in 2008 (outside vender paperwork in hand), and possible relief though a 1151 claim. Thanks for your input.
