Maybe this will help. Let me know.
1. Citation Nr: 1410437, Decision Date: 03/13/14 in which the VA granted entitlement to service connection for gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) and Barrett's esophagus, to include as secondary to the service-connected Type II diabetes mellitus. Two different VA examiners stated that, "It is at least as likely as not (50/05) [sic] probability that this condition has been aggravated by the Veteran's DM2, since longstanding DM2 causes autonomic dysfunction of GI tract with delayed emptying of stomach and de creased [sic] rate of peristalisis."
“The Veteran's lay testimony and the Internet articles he submitted regarding a link between GERD and diabetes mellitus are supported by the medical evidence.”
2. Citation Nr: 1411257 Decision Date: 03/19/14 in which the VA granted entitlement to service connection for gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) as secondary to the service-connected Type II diabetes mellitus. “The March 2013 VA examiner related the Veteran's gastrointestinal symptoms to his service‐connected diabetes, noting recent research showing a nexus between GERD specifically and diabetes.”
