After great control with Lantus through private insurance (UHC). This year I went with (Aetna) and they only cover Levemir. Lantus worked with 25 units average/day. Levemir takes over 60 units/day and still is not working.I hate to increase it to 75 units/day as I'll go broke buying it. As you compare prices unfortunately Lantus will cost more per RX, but it requires so much less dosage it might be more cost effective to use Lantus. My private doctor was able to get Aetna to approve Lantus over Levemir. Hope the VA approves Lantus on my initial visit that comes up next month.
