Ex-Navy Musician's Achievements

  1. Recently got of the phone with the VA,and was told that there has been a letter generated, and my claim is now considered Pending Concurrent. The woman I spoke to at the VA did not know what that meant. The little info I could find related to retirement pay.. I did not retire, I served fourteen years, and was medically discharged, under honorable conditions. Waiting for TDIU going back to August 2010, so be patient, claims take a while, but they are worth waiting for.
  2. Received a supplemental statement of case as part of remanded appeal, July 31, 2017 awarding me TDIU going back to August 2010. BVA sent completed appeal back to the Newark VARO January 25, 2018. Newark VARO called me Feb 27, 2018 telling me the amount of my award, and that I would receive award soon. Spoke once again to the Newark VARO April 6, 2018, and was told that it needed one more signature before the funds would be released. It is now May 12, and I still have not received my award. When I speak to the VA call center, I am told it will be here soon, it is just awaiting final clerical review. How long is too long to wait?
  3. I recently received notification on my appeal. The judge stated that I performed as a professional musician after my discharge, which is entirely not the truth. After doing some research, I found out that in my last psych C&P exam, the doctor wrote that I had worked as a composer and performer after my discharge. My disability does not allow me to perform up to professional standards. Judge took her info from the C&P. How do I make it clear that I have never worked as a musician since my discharge? My feeling is if I had worked as a welder, or a cook, and I could no longer cook, or weld, my case would have been settled long ago. No one takes into consideration the long hours and amount of time it takes to perform at a professional level, not to mention that you have to pass a rigorous audition to and six more months of training to be rated as a musician.
