  1. It's the process more than anything else. Nobody ever teaches the vet what they are qualified for. Nobody ever trains the vet how to apply for what. That's the way the VA prefers it, keeps us in the dark, similar to the USFSPA. Bet you didn't know DOD supports the ex-post facto law that has no federal oversight of taxpayer funds appropriated for defense purposes and allows some states to also redistribute VA disability compensation illegally.
  2. There are no up front fees, only after the increase in disability rating. If an independent exam is desired, you are required to pay for that of course, but if there is no increase, there are no fees. But if you elect the traditional exam, there are no fees, just takes longer.
  3. I have 10% SC rating for my right knee, tore the medial collateral while on active duty. I have two other 10% ratings but it's the daily pain in my knee that they are saying impacts my lifestyle. It took me several attempts on my own and after years, I finally got 10%.
  4. Vet Comp and Pen are medical consultants, not lawyers. They are former VA claims people that got fed up with the way veteran claims were handled, so they formed their own company. The VA intentionally limits claims to less than 50% for retired veterans so they don't qualify for concurrent receipt of both. The vet is still required to submit all claims, they simply provide medical advice that supports their claim. I can't find anything unfavorable on them.
  5. I've been contacted by Vet Comp and Pen. I am currently 30% SC and they claim they can get me to 50% so I can get concurrent VA and Military Retired PAY (MRP). I was told over the phone that their fee was based upon the difference in the increase of rating times 4 months. However, once I started agreeing to their terms, I got to Supplemental Fees page. There are 8 situations that create supplemental fees of which only the first one applies to me. As a retired vet the fee will be 100% of my VA check for 4 months instead of just the increase. Since I will now be getting both VA disability and MRP this will be the first time since I retired that I will now net my full MRP since my former spouse gets a portion as well, (a violation of the US Constitution, which is a topic for another day.) This increase will be based upon a lifestyle impact claim. Vet Comp and Pen was listed with the BBB since April 2016 with no unfavorable comments. Does anyone one have any experience using this company?
